The 2020 Giro d'Italia was the 103rd edition of the Giro d'Italia, one of cycling's Grand Tours. The Giro began in Monreale with an individual time trial on 3 October, and Stage 12 occurred on 15 October with a stage from Cesenatico. The race finished in Milano on 25 October. 2020 Giro D'Italia
The 2020 Giro d'Italia was a road bicycle racing, road cycling stage race that took place between 3 and 25 October, after initially being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was originally to have taken place from 9 to 31 May 2020, as the 103rd edition of the Giro d'Italia, a three-week Grand Tour (cycling), Grand Tour. The start of the 2020 Giro (known as the ''Grande Partenza'') had been planned to take place in Budapest, Hungary, which would have been the 14th time the Giro has started outside Italy, and the first time a Grand Tour has visited Hungary. The event was jeopardised by the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy, and in March 2020 it was postponed, as other early season races in Italy had been. When the government of Hungary announced they would not allow the Grande Partenza to take place, RCS Sport decided they would postpone the race to a later to-be-determined date. Joey Rosskopf
Joseph Rosskopf (born September 5, 1989) is an American cyclist from Decatur, Georgia, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . Career A professional since 2010, Rosskopf was named in the start list for the 2015 Vuelta a España and the start list for the 2016 Giro d'Italia. He won the Tour du Limousin in 2016, and became the second rider from the Americas, after Leonardo Duque, to win the race. Rosskopf was the winner of the United States National Time Trial Championships in 2017 and 2018. In July 2019, he was named in the startlist for the 2019 Tour de France. Rafał Majka (Polish pronunciation: ; born 12 September 1989) is a Polish professional road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He is known as a strong climber, and rose to prominence at the 2013 Giro d'Italia, where he finished 7th overall, and 6th one year later. Other major achievements are three mountainous stage wins in the Tour de France as well as the Mountains classification in the 2014 and 2016 edition, two stages and the overall victory at the 2014 Tour de Pologne. He achieved his only Grand Tour podium finish at the 2015 Vuelta a España, where he finished third. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, he won a bronze medal for Poland in the road race. Jai Hindley (born 5 May 1996) is an Australian professional cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career After joining the team for the 2018 season, Hindley made his debut for at the 2018 Volta ao Algarve. In August 2018, he was named in the startlist for the Vuelta a España. Domenico Pozzovivo (born 30 November 1982) is an Italian professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . His very small stature confer him with the qualities of a pure climbing specialist. He is most known for a victory in stage 8 of the 2012 Giro d'Italia, an overall victory in the 2012 Giro del Trentino, and is notable for his educational attainments. Wilco Kelderman (born 25 March 1991) is a Dutch professional road bicycle racer who rides for UCI WorldTeam . Professional career Born in Amersfoort, Kelderman finished in seventh position in the general classification of the 2014 Giro d'Italia. Tao Geoghegan Hart ( ; born 30 March 1995) is a British cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He rode for as a stagiaire in late 2015, and joined the team permanently for the 2017 season. He won the 2020 Giro d'Italia, taking the jersey following the final day time-trial. Early and personal life Geoghegan Hart was born in Holloway, London. The eldest of 4 siblings, he grew up in the London Fields neighbourhood of Hackney, attending Gayhurst primary school. His family is of Scottish and Irish ancestry.
