2020 Campeonato Mineiro
The 2020 Campeonato Mineiro (officially Campeonato Mineiro SICOOB 2020 – Módulo I for sponsorship reasons) was the 106th edition of the state championship of Minas Gerais organized by FMF. The competition began on 21 January 2020 and ended on 30 August 2020. On 15 March 2020, FMF suspended the Campeonato Mineiro indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. Complying with the guidelines of the Governo do Estado de Minas Gerais, the tournament resumed behind closed doors on 26 July 2020. Atlético Mineiro won their 45th Campeonato Mineiro title after defeating Tombense 3–1 on aggregate. Cruzeiro were the defending champions, but were eliminated in the first stage. Campeonato Mineiro
Campeonato Mineiro is the state football league of the state of Minas Gerais and is controlled by the Minas Gerais Football Federation FMF (Federação Mineira de Futebol). The history of Campeonato Mineiro can be divided into two parts: before and after the construction of the Mineirão, in September 1966. The Mineirão is the biggest football stadium of Minas Gerais and it is located in Minas Gerais' state capital, Belo Horizonte. Before the stadium's inauguration América and Atlético were the most successful teams in the state, but after the construction of the Mineirão, known as the "Era Mineirão" ("Mineirão Era"), another team from the capital, Cruzeiro, also gained prominence. Atlético is the most successful team in the competition, having won 47 championships as of 2022, trailed by Cruzeiro with 40 championships. 2021 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D
The 2021 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D was a football competition held in Brazil, equivalent to the fourth division. The competition began on 26 May and ended on 13 November 2021. Sixty-eight teams competed in the tournament. Sixty-four teams qualified from their state leagues and cups, and four relegated from the 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C ( Boa Esporte, Imperatriz, São Bento and Treze). The match Imperatriz v 4 de Julho, played at the Estádio Frei Epifânio D'Abadia (Imperatriz) on 28 August 2021 (Group A2 13th round), was finished in the 76th minute (0–0) after a strong storm caused the partial collapse of the grandstand roof located over the press booths and changing rooms of the teams and referees. Associação Atlética Caldense, commonly known as Caldense, is a Brazilian professional association football club based in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais. Boa Esporte Clube, commonly known as just Boa Esporte or Boa, is a Brazilian football club from Varginha, Minas Gerais state. The club was formerly known as Ituiutaba Esporte Clube. Jorge Luis Sampaoli Moya (; born 13 March 1960) is an Argentine football coach who is currently manager for Sevilla of La Liga. Sampaoli started out as a youth player and eventually switched to management after a severe injury. Luiz Carlos Cirne Lima de Lorenzi (born 11 August 1972), commonly known as Lisca, is a Brazilian football coach. He is often referred as Lisca Doido (''Crazy Lisca or Mad Lisca'' in Portuguese) due to his extravagant celebrations. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds.
