2020 Bommarito Automotive Group 500
The 2020 Bommarito Automotive Group 500 was an IndyCar Series event that took place from August 29-30, 2020. It made up the eighth and ninth rounds of the 2020 IndyCar Series season. Initially scheduled to be just one race, the one 500km race was replaced with a doubleheader weekend after cancellations of the events at Portland and Laguna Seca due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Two 200-lap, 250-mile races formed the advertised 500 mile distance. Entry list Separate entry lists were released for both events with identical participants, apart from a sponsor change for Felix Rosenqvist from NTT Data to Monster Energy. All cars run a Dallara safety tub utilizing the IndyCar mandated Universal Aero Kit 18. All cars also will utilize Firestone tires. The 2020 NTT IndyCar Series was the 25th season of the IndyCar Series and the 109th official championship season of American open wheel racing. The premier event was the 2020 Indianapolis 500. Josef Newgarden entered the season as the defending National Champion. Honda entered as defending Manufacturers' Cup champion for the second consecutive season. James Vasser Jr. (born November 20, 1965) is an American former racing driver. Vasser won the 1996 CART IndyCar championship with Chip Ganassi Racing, and scored ten victories in the series. Vasser was the last American to win the CART championship. Driving career Vasser made his CART debut in 1992 and qualified for the Indianapolis 500, setting a record for the fastest qualifying run by a first-year driver. Although he did become a top driver, his rise to prominence coincided with the CART–IRL split, so Vasser's best years were spent away from the Indianapolis 500.
