2020 Boca Raton Bowl
The 2020 Boca Raton Bowl was a college football bowl game played on December 22, 2020, with kickoff at for 7:00 p.m. EST on ESPN. It was the seventh edition of the Boca Raton Bowl, and was one of the 2020–21 bowl games concluding the 2020 FBS football season. Sponsored by roofing repair company RoofClaim.com, the game was officially known as the RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl. Teams The 2020 Boca Raton Bowl was contested by the BYU Cougars, who competed as an independent, and the UCF Knights, from the American Athletic Conference. The two teams had met twice previously, with the series tied 1–1. The teams' last meeting had been in 2014; UCF won, 31–24. FAU Stadium
Howard Schnellenberger Field at FAU Stadium is a college football stadium located at the north end of the main campus of Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton, Florida. Opened in 2011, it is home to the Florida Atlantic Owls football team and is intended to be the first part of FAU's multi-use development project, "Innovation Village" as a replacement for Lockhart Stadium After selecting an architect in 2008, the university began to raise funds for the $70 million facility with the intent to begin construction in 2009. The Boca Raton Bowl is an annual National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) sanctioned post-season Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) college football bowl game played in Boca Raton, Florida, since December 2014 on the campus of Florida Atlantic University (FAU) at FAU Stadium. Jacob Harris (born April 16, 1997) is an American football wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at UCF. High school career Born in Palm Harbor, Florida, Harris attended and played high school football at Palm Harbor University. He did not play organized football until his senior year of high school. Tyler Allgeier ( ; born April 15, 2000) is an American football running back for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at BYU. The Associated Press poll (AP poll) provides weekly rankings of the top 25 NCAA teams in one of three Division I college sports: football, men's basketball and women's basketball. The rankings are compiled by polling 62 sportswriters and broadcasters from across the nation. Each voter provides their own ranking of the top 25 teams, and the individual rankings are then combined to produce the national ranking by giving a team 25 points for a first place vote, 24 for a second place vote, and so on down to 1 point for a twenty-fifth place vote. Unlike most sports, college football's governing body, the NCAA, does not bestow a national championship at the FBS level. Instead, that title is bestowed by one or more different polling agencies. There are two main weekly polls that begin in the preseason—the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll. One additional poll, the College Football Playoff (CFP) ranking, is usually released starting midway through the season. The BYU Cougars football team is the college football program representing Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. The Cougars began collegiate football competition in 1922, and have won 23 conference championships and one national championship in 1984.
