The VHT S5000 Australian Drivers' Championship (known originally as the Australian S5000 Championship, or simply S5000) is a current open-wheel road racing series in Australia. The series was created by a merger between two proposed series, Formula Thunder 5000 and Super5000. The series is promoted by the Australian Racing Group. The inaugural race of the series was originally set to be in Sydney Motorsport Park in May 2019, but was delayed to September due to supply issues from Ligier's Charlotte area factory where the chassis are manufactured. Sandown International Raceway is a motor racing circuit in the suburb of Springvale in Melbourne, Victoria, approximately south east of the city centre. Sandown is considered a power circuit with its " drag strip" front and back straights being and long respectively. 2019 S5000 Season
The CAMS Australian S5000 Championship held two "launch events" or exhibition meetings in 2019, prior to the inaugural championship season in 2021. These meetings were held as part of the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships, at Sandown Raceway on 21 and 22 September and The Bend Motorsport Park on 16 and 17 November. The SuperUtes Series (known for commercial reasons as the Haltech V8 SuperUte Series) is an Australian pickup truck racing competition that was launched in 2018 as a successor to the V8 Ute Racing Series. The series' events are held as a support category to Supercars Championship events throughout Australia.
