2019–20 VfL Wolfsburg Season
The 2019–20 season was VfL Wolfsburg's 75th season in existence and the club's 23rd consecutive season in the top flight of German football. In addition to the domestic league, VfL Wolfsburg participated in this season's edition of the DFB-Pokal, and also participated in the UEFA Europa League. The season was slated to cover a period from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020. It was extended extraordinarily beyond 30 June due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany. Verein für Leibesübungen Wolfsburg e. V., commonly known as VfL Wolfsburg () or Wolfsburg, is a German professional sports club based in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony. The club grew out of a multi-sports club for Volkswagen workers in the city of Wolfsburg. Xaver Schlager (; born 28 September 1997) is an Austrian footballer who plays as defensive midfielder for Bundesliga club RB Leipzig and the Austria national team.
