2019–20 Scottish League Cup Group Stage
The 2019–20 Scottish League Cup Group stage was played from 12 to 28 July 2019. A total of 40 teams competed in the group stage. The winners of each of the eight groups, as well as the four best runners-up progressed to the second round (last 16) of the 2019–20 Scottish League Cup. Format The group stage consisted of eight groups of five teams. The four clubs competing in the UEFA Champions League (Celtic) and Europa League (Rangers, Kilmarnock, and Aberdeen) qualifying rounds were given a bye through to the second round. The 40 teams taking part in the group stage consisted of the other eight teams that competed in the 2018–19 Scottish Premiership, and all of the teams that competed in the 2018–19 Scottish Championship, 2018–19 Scottish League One and 2018–19 Scottish League Two, as well as the 2018–19 Highland Football League and the 2018–19 Lowland Football League champions. Kevin Nisbet
Kevin Michael Nisbet (born 8 March 1997) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a centre-forward for Scottish Premiership club Hibernian and the Scotland national team. He has previously played for Partick Thistle, Raith Rovers and Dunfermline Athletic, as well as East Stirlingshire, Ayr United and Dumbarton on loan. Career Partick Thistle and loans Nisbet was raised in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire, and attended Trinity High School. He played for Hibernian's under-15 team before joining the Partick Thistle youth system. He joined the club as a full-time apprentice in summer 2014. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any).
