2019–20 Purdue Boilermakers Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball team represented Purdue University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Their head coach was Matt Painter in his 15th season with the Boilers. The team played their home games at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana as members of the Big Ten Conference. The Boilers finished the season 16–15, 9–11 in Big Ten play to finish in a tie for 10th place. Due to tie-breaking rules, they received the No. 10 seed in the Big Ten tournament before the tournament was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Matt Painter
Matthew Curtis Painter (born August 27, 1970) is an American basketball coach and former player. He is currently the men's basketball coach at Purdue University, having held that position since 2005. Before Purdue, Painter held coaching positions at Southern Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Barton College, and Washington & Jefferson College. Painter runs a motion offense. Painter's teams are also known for their "stout, stingy, defense" and their "overwhelming offense." Since taking the helm at Purdue, Painter's teams have consistently placed in the top 15 of offensive and defensive efficiency nationally. With Painter at the helm, Purdue teams have reached the NCAA Tournament 13 times, with six Sweet-Sixteen appearances, and 1 Elite Eight appearance. Jahaad Proctor (born August 14, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the York Mighty Ants of the Triple Threat Basketball League. He attended Harrisburg High School in Pennsylvania and became the program's all-time leading scorer. Proctor began his college basketball career playing for the Iona Gaels but transferred after his freshman season to play for the High Point Panthers. Carsen Cade Edwards (born March 12, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for Fenerbahçe of the Turkish Basketbol Süper Ligi and the EuroLeague.
