2019–20 Oklahoma Sooners Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Oklahoma Sooners basketball team represents the University of Oklahoma in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They are led by ninth-year head coach Lon Kruger and play their home games at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma as a member of the Big 12 Conference. Previous season The Sooners finished the 2018–19 season with an overall record of 20–14, 7–11 in Big 12 play to finish in a tie for seventh place. They lost in the First Round of the Big 12 tournament to West Virginia. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the Second Round to Virginia. Lon Kruger
Lonnie Duane Kruger (born August 19, 1952) is a retired American college and professional basketball coach (sport), coach who was most recently the men's basketball head coach of the University of Oklahoma. Kruger played college basketball for Kansas State University. He has served as the head coach of the University of Texas–Pan American, Kansas State, the University of Florida, the University of Illinois, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, as well as the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Kruger was one of only three coaches ever (the others being Rick Pitino and Tubby Smith) to lead five programs to the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA tournament. Leawood is a city in Johnson County, Kansas, United States, and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 33,902.
