2019–20 Men's Hockey League Season
The 2019–20 Men's England Hockey League season was the 2019–20 season of England's field hockey league structure. The season started on 14 September 2019 and was due to end in March 2020, but finished on 12 September 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The defending champions were Hampstead and Westminster. Old Georgians, winners of the Hockey League Conference East replaced the relegated Sevenoaks. On 17 March 2020, the play-offs were suspended due to COVID. The play-offs were officially cancelled on 28 April 2020 and Surbiton were crowned champions. Beeston Hockey Club won the delayed Championship Cup on 12 September 2020, defeating Bowdon and Fareham respectively. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League. League Finals Weekend The top four Premier Division teams from the regular season qualify for the League Finals Weekend. Lee Valley Hockey And Tennis Centre
Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre is a sports and leisure venue located in Leyton, London Borough of Waltham Forest, to the north of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It is regularly used for international field hockey fixtures by both the Great Britain men's and women's field hockey teams. It hosted the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup. James Tindall
James Tindall (born 22 April 1983) is a former English international field hockey player. Tindall is from Virginia Water, Surrey. He was part of the England and Great Britain from January 2005 until the end of 2012. He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Infamously, he was given a yellow card in the 1–1 draw against Canada at the 2008 Olympics by flipping his opponent over his head.
