The 2019–20 Liga IV Maramureș was the 52nd season of Liga IV Maramureș, the fourth tier of the Romanian football league system. The season is scheduled began on 24 August 2019 and was scheduled to end in June 2020, but was suspended in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic in Romania. The season was ended officially on 24 July 2020 after a promotion play-off match between the first ranked teams in the South and North Series. CS Progresul Șomcuta Mare, Progresul Șomcuta Mare win the title and qualify to 2019–20 Liga IV, promotion play-off in Liga III. Liga IV Maramureș is the regional Liga IV football division for clubs in Maramureș County, România, the fourth tier of the Romanian football league system. It is organized by the County Football Association (Asociația Județeană de Fotbal) and is competed amongst 24 teams divided into 2 series, the winner is promoted to Liga III after a promotion play-off. History In 1968, along with the territorial reorganization of the country, but also due to the large number of requests, Romanian Football Federation, FRF proposes a competitive system in which each county has its own football championship, which will activate the former teams in the regional championship as well as the racing and town championship teams from the previous edition. Promotion The champions of each county association play one another in a play-off to promote to the Liga III. Geographical criteria are taken into consideration when the play-offs are drawn. Clubul Sportiv Municipal Sighetu Marmației, commonly known as CSM Sighetu Marmației, or simply as Sighetu Marmației (, is a Romanian football club based in Sighetu Marmației, Maramureș County, currently playing in the Liga III. History The club was founded in 1996 to continue the football tradition in Sighetu Marmației after the dissolution of CIL Sighetu Marmației, a team which played for many years in Liga II. On 13 May 2016 CSM Sighetu Marmației withdrew from Liga III and was dissolved. In the summer of 2019, after 3 years of inactivity, the football section of the sports club was refounded.
