2019–20 Cypriot Second Division
The 2019–20 Cypriot Second Division is the 65th season of the Cypriot second-level Association football, football league. It began on 20 September 2019 and ended in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Format Sixteen teams are divided into 2 groups of 8 teams each (Groups A and B). Each plays the others from its own group twice, home and away, for a total of 14 games each, over 14 game weeks. Teams in places 1-4 of each group qualify for Premier Group where the first two teams were promoted to the Cypriot First Division, First Division, and the rest for Standard Group where the last four teams would be relegated to the Cypriot Third Division, Third Division - however due to the pandemic, no teams were relegated this season. Cypriot Second Division
The Cypriot Second Division ( el, Πρωτάθλημα Β΄ Κατηγορίας) is the second highest football division of the Cypriot football league system. Administrated by the Cyprus Football Association, it is contested by 16 teams, with the top two teams being promoted to the Cypriot First Division and the last four teams being relegated to the Cypriot Third Division. History The Cypriot Second Division started unofficially the 1934–35 football season as the second level of the Cypriot football (Cyprus Football Association founded in 1934). The competition consisted of teams that didn't participate in Cypriot First Division and the reserve teams of the Cypriot First Division clubs. In the reserve teams were allowed to participate only players that had no more than three caps with their team in First Division. 2018–19 Cypriot First Division
The 2018–19 Cypriot First Division was the 80th season of the Cypriot top-level football league. Teams Promotion and relegation (pre-season) Aris Limassol and Ethnikos Achna were relegated at the end of the first-phase of the 2017–18 season after finishing in the bottom two places of the table. They were joined by Olympiakos Nicosia, who finished at the bottom of the second-phase relegation group. The relegated teams were replaced by 2017–18 Second Division champions Enosis Neon Paralimni. Anagennisi Deryneia ( el, Αναγέννηση Δερύνειας) is Cypriot football team based in Deryneia, Famagusta. The club was founded in 1920 and they joined the Cyprus Football Association in 1972. The team played in the Cypriot First division in 2011 but was relegated at the end of the season. It has participated in the first and second divisions and Cypriot Third Division in the past. The club also maintains a volleyball team, which is currently playing in the Second Division, having lifted the Cypriot Cup trophy twice in the past. Akritas Chlorakas ( el, Ακρίτας Χλώρακας) is a Cypriot football club based in Chloraka, Paphos. The club was founded in 1971, and currently plays in the Cypriot First Division. Akritas' colours are green and white, and they play their home games at the Chloraka Municipal Stadium. History Founded in 1971, Akritas Chlorakas joined the Cyprus Football Association in 1973, competing in the Cypriot Third Division. For many years, Akritas fluctuated between the Second and Third Division, winning the Third Division a total of three times, and winning the Cypriot Cup for Lower Divisions on one occasion. ''Oroklini-Troulloi FC 2020'' ( el, Ορόκλινη-Τρούλλοι FC 2020) is a Cypriot football club which is based in the village of Troulloi in Larnaca district. The club was founded in 1952 as Digenis Oroklinis. In the 2014–2015 season the team competed in the Cypriot Second Division for the first time in its history. History Digenis was founded in 1952 under the name Athletic Club Omonia Oroklinis. In 1983 the general meeting of the association decided to rename to Digenis. The club's emblem contained the date 1983 when the name changed. The team's colours are white, blue and green. Oroklini-Troulloi FC 2020 was founded in June 2020 by the consolidation of Digenis Oroklinis and the Troulloi FC 2015 team, which had been formed three years earlier by a merger of Sourouklis Troullon and Dafni Troulloi.
