2019–20 Chelsea F.C. Season
The 2019–20 season was Chelsea's 106th competitive season, 31st consecutive season in the top flight of English football, 28th consecutive season in the Premier League, and 114th year in existence as a football club. The season was slated to cover the period from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020, but due to the suspension of football due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was extended to 8 August 2020. The season was the first since 2011–12 without Eden Hazard, who departed to Real Madrid. On 16 June 2019, manager Maurizio Sarri departed Chelsea, signing for Juventus. On 4 July, former player Frank Lampard signed on a three-year contract, replacing Sarri as head coach. Joe Edwards (football Manager)
Joe Edwards (born 26 September 1986) is an English professional football manager who was most recently head coach of Championship club Millwall. A former Chelsea youth player, he has also had coaching positions with Chelsea, Everton and England U20s. Playing career Edwards is a product of Chelsea's youth academy since the age of 8, and worked his way up their youth categories. He was released by the club at the age of 16. Jody Morris
Jody Steven Morris (born 22 December 1978) is an English professional football coach and former player. As a midfielder, Morris played for Chelsea, Leeds United, Rotherham United, Millwall, St Johnstone and Bristol City. He won several trophies at Chelsea, including the UEFA Super Cup in 1998 and FA Cup in 2000. After retiring from playing, Morris became a youth coach at Chelsea's academy. Maurizio Sarri
Maurizio Sarri (; born 10 January 1959) is an Italian professional football manager who is the current manager of club Lazio. Sarri did not play football professionally, taking part as an amateur centre back and coach while working as a banker. In 2005, he had his first Serie B job at Pescara. In 2014, Sarri won promotion to Serie A with Empoli, and after preserving their place in the top flight he was hired by Napoli. He won several individual awards while managing the Naples-based club; after finishing as league runners-up in 2017–18, Sarri moved to English club Chelsea, where he won the UEFA Europa League in his only season with the club.
