The 2019–20 Australian Baseball League season was the tenth year Australian Baseball League (ABL) season. The season was held from to . The Melbourne Aces won their first title after defeating the Adelaide Giants in the postseason. Teams On 27 August 2019, the Adelaide franchise announced it changed its name from the Adelaide Bite to the Adelaide Giants. This was the name of the Adelaide franchise from 1989–1999 and is the first renaming of a team in the league's history. The Tuatara also moved their team from the baseball-specific venue of McLeod Park to North Harbour Stadium, which was converted to a baseball field for the first time. Timothy Kennelly
Timothy James Kennelly (born 5 December 1986) is an Australian professional baseball player for the Perth Heat of the Australian Baseball League. Primarily an outfielder and third baseman, Kennelly spent a significant portion of his career also at catcher. He is the current all-time hits (426), runs (275), runs batted in (226), plate appearances (1637) and at-bats (1432) leader of the Australian Baseball League as of 1 January 2023. Geelong Baseball Park
The Geelong Baseball Centre or Geelong Baseball Park is home to Geelong Baseball Club in Geelong, Victoria during summer and the Guild Allstars Baseball Club and East Belmont Saints Baseball Club during the winter season. In total the Geelong Baseball Centre has four playing fields, with the main diamond being one of the few international standard baseball ballparks in Australia. Features include lighting up to international standard, electronic scoreboard and associated infrastructure in the form of elevated commentary box, outfield sightboards, bullpen tunnels, meeting and dining areas and an indoor training facility. Gavin Glenn Christopher Joseph Cecchini (; born December 22, 1993) is an American professional baseball second baseman who is a free agent. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Mets. Early life Cecchini was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and attended Alfred M. Barbe High School. The 201920 Australian bushfire season (Black Summer), was a period of bushfires in many parts of Australia, which, due to its unusual intensity, size, duration, and uncontrollable dimension, is considered a megafire. Sky Sport is a group of sports-oriented television channels operated by New Zealand's satellite pay-TV company, Sky. History Sky Sport 1 is the original Sky Television sport channel in New Zealand. Extra Innings
Extra innings is the extension of a baseball or softball game in order to break a tie. Ordinarily, a baseball game consists of nine regulation innings (in softball and high school baseball games there are typically seven innings; in Little League Baseball, six), each of which is divided into halves: the visiting team bats first, after which the home team takes its turn at bat. However, if the score remains tied at the end of the regulation number of complete innings, the rules provide that "play shall continue until (1) the visiting team has scored more total runs than the home team at the end of a completed inning; or (2) the home team scores the winning run in an uncompleted inning." Historically, doubleheaders have been played in immediate succession, in front of the same crowd.
