2019–20 Albany Great Danes Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Albany Great Danes men's basketball team represented University at Albany, SUNY in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They played their home games at the SEFCU Arena in Albany, New York and are led by 19th-year head coach Will Brown. They finished the season 14–18, 7–9 in America East play to finish in seventh place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the America East tournament to Stony Brook. Previous season The Great Danes finished the 2018–19 season 12–20, 7–9 in America East Conference play to finish in sixth place. In the America East tournament, they were defeated by UMBC in the quarterfinals. Will Brown (basketball)
William J. Brown (born October 8, 1971) is an American basketball coach. He is the former head men's basketball coach at Albany, where he served from 2002 to 2021, guiding the Great Danes to five NCAA tournament appearances. Playing career Born in Miller Place, New York, Brown played collegiate basketball at Dowling College, starting for three years. He finished his career as the school's all-time leader in assists, three-point field goals and free-throw percentage, and is the only player in Dowling history to score 1,000 points and tally 500 assists. Coaching career Brown began his coaching career at The College of Saint Rose, serving as an assistant coach for three seasons. He then became the head coach at Sullivan County Community College, compiling a record of 90–10 in three seasons. Montverde Academy is a private PK–12 school in Montverde, Florida, United States. History The school was founded in 1912 as Montgomery Industrial School. The school president was Henry P. Carpenter. It underwent a major expansion in 1921, when two new buildings were built for a cost of almost $40,000, including a concrete block dormitory for 200 boys and a new dining hall. The expansion was funded by donations, including $11,000 from R. Jay Arnold of Groveland, Florida.
