2019–20 AFC Ajax Season
During the 2019–20 season, Ajax participated in the Eredivisie, the KNVB Cup, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League and the Johan Cruyff Shield. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on 21 April, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced that events that require a permit are forbidden until 1 September. This meant that football matches were also not allowed, resulting in the end of the 2019–20 Eredivisie season. As a result, the KNVB decided on 24 April to maintain the current league positions but not to appoint a champion. Since Ajax was in first place on 8 March (after the last completed round), it was awarded the highest 2020–21 UEFA Champions League spot without being crowned as national champion. Willem II (football Club)
Willem II (), also known as Willem II Tilburg, is a Dutch football club based in Tilburg, Netherlands. They play in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football, following relegation from the Eredivisie in the 2021–22 season. The club was founded on 12 August 1896 as ''Tilburgia''. Donny Van De Beek
Donny van de Beek (; born 18 April 1997) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Premier League club Manchester United and the Netherlands national team. He joined the Ajax academy in 2008. In 2015, Van de Beek made his competitive debut for the club in a UEFA Europa League match against Celtic. Kik Pierie (born 20 July 2000) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Eredivisie club Excelsior on loan from Ajax. Perr Schuurs (born 26 November 1999) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Serie A club Torino. The 2020–21 UEFA Champions League was the 66th season of Europe's premier club football tournament organised by UEFA, and the 29th season since it was renamed from the European Champion Clubs' Cup to the UEFA Champions League. Chelsea defeated Manchester City 1–0 in the final, which was played at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto, Portugal. The Royal Dutch Football Association (, ; KNVB ) is the governing body of football in the Netherlands. COVID-19 Pandemic In The Netherlands
The COVID-19 pandemic in the Netherlands has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. The virus reached the Netherlands on 27 February 2020, when its first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Tilburg. It involved a 56-year-old Dutchman who had arrived in the Netherlands from Italy, where the COVID-19 pandemic seemed to enter Europe.
