2019 Yorkshire Cup
The 2019 Yorkshire Cup competition was a pre season knock-out competition between (mainly professional) rugby league clubs from the county of Yorkshire. Background The original Yorkshire Cup was scrapped in 1993 due to fixture congestion after being played every year since 1905. In late 2018, a group of lower league Yorkshire based clubs resurrected the Yorkshire Cup as a pre-season tournament to add more interest and intensity to pre-season. The eight founding clubs of the 'new' Yorkshire Cup were; Batley, Bradford, Dewsbury, Featherstone, Halifax, Hunslet, York and amateur club Hunslet Club Parkside. York City Knights
The York Knights are the men's professional rugby league team of York RLFC (known as the York City Knights from 2002 to 2022) based in York, England. The Knights played their home games at Huntington Stadium before moving to Bootham Crescent. In 2021, they moved to the newly built York Community Stadium. the previous site of Huntington stadium, where they ground share with the York RLFC women's team York Valkyrie and York City F.C. In the 2016 season they played in RFL League 1, League 1. In 2018 the club succeeded in winning all their matches except two and were crowned league champions, earning immediate promotion to the Championship league. Hunslet Club Parkside
Hunslet Club Parkside was an English amateur rugby league club based in Hunslet, West Yorkshire. Its first team competed in the National Conference League. History The club was founded in the 1940s as Hunslet Boys Club, playing junior rugby until 1999 when the club formed an open age team named Hunslet Old Boys. In 2012, Hunslet Parkside approached Hunslet Old Boys about a possible merger, which went ahead several months later. Hunslet Parkside was a junior club formed in 1973 following the demise of the town's professional club, and was based in the Belle Isle area in the south of Leeds. The club produced a number of high-profile players in its history, including Garry Schofield, Jason Robinson, Sonny Nickle, James Lowes and Sam Burgess. Crown Flatt
Crown Flatt, currently known as the Tetley's Stadium for sponsorship purposes, is a rugby league stadium in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England. It is the home of the Dewsbury Rams, who play in the Championship. The ground occupies the site of the former Shaw Cross Colliery, which closed in August 1968. Crown Flatt was also the name of a stadium at a different site in the town which was Dewsbury's home ground from 1876 until 1991. Dewsbury Rams
The Dewsbury Rams are a professional English rugby league club based in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire that compete in the Championship. They play their home games at the Tetley's Stadium, on Owl Lane. The Rams' main fanbase comes from their hometown of Dewsbury, but they also hold a strong following in Shaw Cross as well as in neighbouring Gawthorpe and Ossett, among other places. Prior to the 1997 season, the club was known as Dewsbury R.L.F.C. The club won their sole league title in 1972–73, after finishing the regular season in 8th place. Featherstone Rovers
Featherstone Rovers are a professional rugby league club in Featherstone, West Yorkshire, England, who play in the Championship (rugby league), Championship. Featherstone is a former coal mining town with a population of around 16,000 and Rovers are one of the last "small town teams" which were common in rugby league in the early 20th century. Batley is a market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, in West Yorkshire, England. Hunslet () is an inner-city area in south Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is southeast of the city centre and has an industrial past. It is situated in the Hunslet and Riverside ward of Leeds City Council and Leeds Central parliamentary constituency. The population of the previous City and Hunslet council ward at the 2011 census was 33,705. Odsal Stadium in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, is the home of Bradford Bulls Rugby League team. It has also been used by the Bradford Dukes speedway team, BRISCA F1 and F2 stock cars, the football team Bradford City, following the Valley Parade fire, and for baseball, basketball, kabbadi, show jumping, tennis, live music, international Rugby League and the 1997 Speedway Grand Prix of Great Britain. Bradford Bulls
The Bradford Bulls are a professional rugby league club in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, playing in the Championship. They have won five Challenge Cups, six league championships and three World Club Challenges. The team jersey is predominantly white with red, amber and black chevrons. In 1907, Bradford F.C., founder member of the Rugby Football League, switched codes to association football and Bradford Northern, often abbreviated to Northern, was formed by members who wished to continue rugby. The Halifax Panthers are a professional rugby league club in Halifax, West Yorkshire, which formed in 1873. Halifax were one of the original twenty-two rugby clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895. They have been Rugby League Champions four times and have won the Challenge Cup five times. They were known as the Halifax Blue Sox between 1996 and 2002. They have rivalries with neighbours Bradford and Huddersfield and with fellow Championship side Featherstone Rovers. Mount Pleasant, Batley
Mount Pleasant stadium, officially known for commercial sponsorship purposes as Fox's Biscuits Stadium, is a rugby league stadium in Batley, West Yorkshire, England. It is the home of the Batley Bulldogs. The Mount Pleasant pitch is sloped and is on a hill overlooking Batley. The end of the ground at the top of the hill has three grandstands. Behind the rugby posts is a terraced stand, which houses the players changing rooms and executive boxes. At the opposite end at the bottom of the hill is an open terraced stand.
