2019 World Wrestling Championships
The 2019 World Wrestling Championships were held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan from 14 September to 22 September 2019. The tournament served as qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics, the top six wrestlers from each category earned their NOCs a qualification. Astana
Astana, previously known as Akmolinsk, Tselinograd, Akmola, and most recently Nur-Sultan, is the capital city of Kazakhstan. The city lies on the banks of the Ishim (river), Ishim River in the north-central part of Kazakhstan, within the Akmola Region, though administered as a city with special status separately from the rest of the region. Daulet Niyazbekov ( kk, Дәулет Шораұлы Ниязбеков; born 12 February 1989) is a Kazakh freestyle wrestler, who was a member of the Olympic Games 2012. He competed in the men's freestyle 55 kg and he lost his bronze medal match to World Champion Yang Kyong-il. Niyazbekov was a bronze medalist at the World Wrestling Championships 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey. He won the Asian Wrestling Championship in 2015, as well as bronze at the 2014 and 2017 editions. Niyazbekov competed in the men's freestyle 61 kg at the World Wrestling Championships 2015 in Las Vegas, United States. Jabrayil Hasanov ( az, Cəbrayıl Həsənov, born on 24 February 1990 in Suparibağ, Astara, Azerbaijan, Soviet Union) is a male freestyle wrestler from Azerbaijan who has competed in the 66, 74 and 79 kg categories. Kyle Douglas Dake (born February 25, 1991) is an American freestyle wrestler and graduated folkstyle wrestler who currently competes at 74 kilograms. Dake is a four-time and the reigning World Champion, winning back-to-back titles twice, at 79 kilos in 2018 and 2019 and 74 kilos in 2021 and 2022. He claimed a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics (competing for the first time at 74 kilos) held in Tokyo. Jordan Ernest Burroughs (born July 8, 1988) is an American freestyle wrestler and former folkstyle wrestler who currently competes at 79 kilograms, and previously competed at 74 kilos. Daniyar Kaisanov (born 18 July 1993) is a Kazakhstani freestyle wrestler. He is a two-time gold medalist at the Asian Wrestling Championships, a silver medalist at the Asian Games and a bronze medalist at the World Wrestling Championships.
