2019 World Para Alpine Skiing Championships
The 2019 World Para Alpine Skiing Championships was an international disability sport alpine skiing event held in two cities: Sella Nevea, Italy from 21 to 24 January with slalom and giant slalom and Kranjska Gora, Slovenia from 28 to 31 January with Super-G, downhill and super combined events. Thomas Walsh (born January 30, 1995) is an American para-alpine skier. Born and raised in Vail, Colorado, he starting skiing at the age of 2. He began his racing career with the Ski and Snowboard Club Vail at the age of 5. Career He represented the United States at the 2018 Winter Paralympics in the Super-G, Giant slalom, Slalom and Super combined events. He did not win a medal at these events. Niels De Langen
Niels de Langen (born 30 November 1998) is a Dutch para-alpine skier. He won two medals in alpine skiing at the 2022 Winter Paralympics. Early life De Langen was born in 1998 in Arnhem, Netherlands. In the first year of his life he lost his right leg due to meningococcal disease. At 16 years of age, in June 2015, he made the decision to amputate his left leg which was also damaged as a result of the infection. Career He won a bronze medal at the 2017 World Para Alpine Skiing Championships at the slalom event.
