2019 Women's EuroHockey Club Trophy
The 2019 Women's EuroHockey Club Trophy was the 43rd edition of the women's Women's EuroHockey Club Trophy, Europe's secondary club field hockey tournament organized by the European Hockey Federation, EHF. It was held from 19 to 22 April 2019 in Rochester, Kent, Rochester, England. Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, Campo de Madrid won the tournament after defeating Holcombe Hockey Club, Holcombe 3–1 in the final. Waterloo Ducks finished third, after defeating UCD Ladies' Hockey Club, UCD 2–0 in the third place playoff. Rochester, Kent
Rochester ( ) is a town in the unitary authority of Medway, in Kent, England. It is at the lowest bridging point of the River Medway, about from London. The town forms a conurbation with neighbouring towns Chatham, Rainham, Strood and Gillingham. Rochester was a city until losing its status as one in 1998 following the forming of Medway and failing to protect its status as a city. There have been ongoing campaigns to reinstate the city status for Rochester. Rochester was for many years a favourite of Charles Dickens, who owned nearby Gads Hill Place, Higham, basing many of his novels on the area. The Diocese of Rochester, the second oldest in England, is centred on Rochester Cathedral and was responsible for founding a school, now ''The King's School'', in 604 AD, which is recognised as the second oldest continuously running school in the world. Leah Wilkinson
Leah Julia Wilkinson (born 3 December 1986) is a Welsh international field hockey player who plays as a defender for Wales and Great Britain. She was born in Burton-on-Trent, England, and plays club hockey in the Women's England Hockey League Premier Division for Surbiton. Wilkinson has also played for Holcombe and Reading. She represented Wales at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, 2014 Commonwealth Games and 2018 Commonwealth Games. In 2004, she made her international debut for Wales against Ireland. She took over the captaincy of her country in 2018 and on 1 June 2019 she became not only the most capped hockey player, but most capped Welsh sportsperson.
