2019 Wimbledon Championships – Women's Singles Qualifying
Players who neither have high enough rankings nor receive wild cards may participate in a qualifying tournament held one week before the annual The Championships, Wimbledon, Wimbledon Tennis Championships. This is the first time the Wimbledon women's singles event will have 16 qualifiers, following the example set by the US Open (tennis), US Open. Wimbledon previously had 12 qualifiers in the women's draw. Cori Gauff became the youngest qualifier to reach the main draw at Wimbledon in the Open Era at 15 years and 122 days old. The Championships, Wimbledon
The Wimbledon Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877 and is played on outdoor grass courts, with retractable roofs over the two main courts since 2019. Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the others being the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open. Wimbledon is the only major still played on grass, the traditional tennis playing surface. Also, it is the only Grand Slam that retains a night-time curfew, though matches can now continue until 11.00 pm under the lights. Varvara Flink
Varvara Alexandrovna Flink (russian: Варвара Александровна Флинк; born 13 December 1996) is a Russian tennis player. She achieved a career-high WTA rankings, WTA singles ranking of 122 on 15 July 2019 and a doubles ranking of 372 on 31 October 2022. Flink owns one doubles title on the WTA 125 tournaments, WTA Challenger Tour. She won her first of her six ITF singles title on 21 May 2017. In doubles, she has won two ITF titles. Arantxa Rus (; born 13 December 1990) is a Dutch tennis player. Sachia Vickery (born May 11, 1995) is an American professional tennis player. She first entered the top 100 in 2018 and eventually reached a career-high of No. 73 in the world in the WTA rankings.
