2019 USA Women's Sevens
The 2019 USA Women's Sevens was a rugby sevens tournament that takes place at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colorado between the 5-6 October 2019. It was the seventh time that the USA Women's Sevens have been held as an World Series event and was the first tournament of the 2019–20 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. In the cup final, the United States won their first USA Women's Sevens since the tournament became a World Series event as they defeated Australia 26–7 in the final. New Zealand came home in third place after defeating France 31–14 while England won the Challenge Trophy over Japan. 2019–20 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series
The 2019–20 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series was the eighth edition of the global circuit for women's national rugby sevens teams, organised by World Rugby. Only five of the originally scheduled eight tournaments were completed before the series was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic. New Zealand was awarded the series title at the end of June 2020, leading by 16 points over second-placed Australia. The events planned for Hong Kong, Langford and Paris were postponed, before eventually being cancelled. Format Twelve nations competed at each event, drawn into three pools of four teams. The top-placed teams after the pool matches at each tournament played off for a Cup, with gold, silver and bronze medals also awarded to the first three teams. Rugby Sevens At The 2020 Summer Olympics
Rugby sevens at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo took place from 26 July to 31 July 2021 at the Tokyo Stadium. 24 teams (12 each for men and women) competed in the tournament. The dates were modified due to the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 games as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Competition The men's and women's rugby sevens competitions took place at Tokyo Stadium, a 2019 Rugby World Cup host venue. The men's sessions took place July 26–28 with the women's sessions happening July 29–31, 2021. Changes In a reverse to the 2016 schedule, the men's competition was played first over three days from July 27–29 with the women's competition taking place from July 30 through August 1 and culminating with the gold medal session. There were two sessions on each competition day. The morning session kicked-off at 9 AM JST and ran until midday JST and the evening session began at 4:30 PM and finished at 7 PM. 2019 Dubai Women's Sevens
The 2019 Dubai Women's Sevens will be an tournament held at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 5–7 December 2019. It will be the ninth edition of the Dubai Women's Sevens and will also be the second tournament of the 2019–20 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. Format The teams are drawn into three pools of four teams each. Each team plays every other team in their pool once. The top two teams from each pool advance to the Cup/Plate brackets while the top 2 third place teams also compete in the Cup/Plate. The other teams from each group play-off for the Challenge Trophy. The World Rugby Men's Sevens Series is an annual series of international rugby sevens tournaments run by World Rugby featuring national sevens teams. Organised for the first time in the 1999–2000 season as the IRB World Sevens Series, the competition was formed to promote an elite-level of international rugby sevens and develop the game into a viable commercial product. The competition has been sponsored by banking group HSBC since 2014. The season's circuit consists of 10 tournaments that generally begin in November or December and last until May. The venues are held across 10 countries, and visits five of the six populated continents. Russia Women's National Rugby Sevens Team
The Russian women's national rugby sevens team (russian: Женская сборная России по регби-7) is a women's rugby team in Europe. Since 2013, it is dominating the European Championships, winning the trophy seven times. Internationally, Russia's best performance was in 2013, finishing in the quarterfinals. The team was runner-up at the 2015 Canada Women's Sevens, after defeating Australia in quarter-finals and France in semifinals. Russia failed to qualify for the inaugural rugby sevens event in 2016 Summer Olympics; however, they qualified for the following Olympic Games in Tokyo. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, World Rugby and Rugby Europe suspended Russia from international and European continental rugby union competition. Japan Women's National Rugby Sevens Team
The Japan women's national rugby sevens team has competed in competitions such as the Hong Kong Women's Sevens. In 2012-13 they played two World Series tournaments, resulting 13th in China. In the 2013–14 season they resulted 7th at São Paulo and 8th at Atlanta. They were not invited to any World Series tournament in 2014–15. Japan played the full 2015–16 World Series, with a best result of 9th at the Dubai Sevens, and finished 11th in the overall standings. Japan qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics after winning the 2015 ARFU Women's Sevens Championships. The team won over Kenya but lost twice to Brazil, finishing 10th in the tournament.
