2019 Tour Of California (women's Race)
The fifth running of the Women's Tour of California ''(officially: Amgen Tour of California Women's Race empowered with SRAM)'' was held from 16 to 18 May 2019. It was the 11th race of the 2019 UCI Women's World Tour. Raced over three stages, it covered a total distance of 177 miles. Teams 16 teams started: Schedule Classification leadership table In the Tour of California, five different jerseys are awarded. For the general classification, calculated by adding each cyclist's finishing times on each stage, and allowing time bonuses for the first three finishers at intermediate sprints and at the finish of mass-start stages, the leader received a yellow jersey. This classification was considered the most important of the 2019 Tour of California, and the winner of the classification was considered the winner of the race. 2019 UCI Women's World Tour
The 2019 UCI Women's World Tour was a competition that included twenty-three road bicycle racing, road cycling events throughout the 2019 in women's road cycling, 2019 women's cycling season. It was the fourth edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2016. The competition began with the 2019 Strade Bianche Women, Strade Bianche on 9 March and concluded with the Tour of Guangxi on 22 October. After just missing out in 2018 UCI Women's World Tour, 2018, Marianne Vos () clinched her first UCI Women's World Tour title after a third-place finish in the final event of the season, the Tour of Guangxi. Elisa Balsamo (cyclist)
Elisa Balsamo (born 27 February 1998) is an Italian road and track cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's World Team , and represents Italy at international competitions. After competing at the 2015 UCI Road World Championships in the women's junior road race she became junior world champion at the 2016 UCI Road World Championships in the junior's road race. She won the gold medal at the 2016 UEC European Track Championships in the team pursuit. Early life Balsamo was born in Cuneo in 1998. Her father was an amateur cyclist. Before taking up cycling, she had competed in a number of skiing disciplines, as well as biathlon and swimming. Career Balsamo's first major win came at the 2016 UCI Road World Championships in Doha, where she won the Road Race in a bunch sprint ahead of Skylar Schneider. She signed for for the 2017 season. Tour Of California
The Tour of California (officially sponsored as the Amgen Tour of California) was an annual professional road bicycle racing, road cycling stage race on the UCI World Tour and USA Cycling Professional Tour that ran from 2006 to 2019. It was the only event on the top-level World Tour in the United States. The eight-day race covered 650–700 miles (1,045–1,126 km) through the U.S. state of California. A typical edition might begin in the Sierra Nevada (U.S.), Sierra Nevada in northern California, travel through the Sequoia sempervirens, Redwood forests, Wine Country (California), California's Wine Country and the Pacific Coast, and finish in southern California. Kathrin Hammes
Kathrin Hammes (born 9 January 1989 in Cologne) is a German road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI Women's Continental Team . She won the gold medal at the 2014 World University Cycling Championship in the road race and the silver medal in the time trial. She represented her country at the 2011 Summer Universiade where she finished 14th in the road race. She also participated in the under-23 road race at the 2011 European Road Championships. Omer Shapira ( he, עומר שפירא; born 9 September 1994) is an Israeli racing cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . She is an eight-time national road champion; winning the Israeli National Time Trial Championships in 2020 and 2022, and the Israeli National Road Race Championships for six consecutive years between 2017 and 2022. Career Shapira rode in the women's time trial event at the 2018 UCI Road World Championships. Canyon–SRAM (2019–21) For the 2019 season, Shapira joined the team.
