2019 Sokoto State Gubernatorial Election
The 2019 Sokoto State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on March 9, 2019. Incumbent Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal won re-election for a second term, defeating Ahmad Aliyu of the APC and several minor party candidates. Aminu Tambuwal was returned as the PDP candidate with Manir Dan Iya as his running mate. Ahmad Aliyu was the APC candidate with Faruk Malami Yabo as his running mate. 51 candidates contested in the election. Electoral system The Governor of Sokoto State is elected using the plurality voting system. Primary election PDP primary Aminu Tambuwal was returned as the PDP candidate with Manir Dan Iya as his running mate. APC primary The APC primary election was held on September 30, 2018. Ahmad Aliyu won the primary election polling 2,282 votes against 3 other candidates. Aminu Tambuwal
Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (born 10 January 1966) is a Nigerian politician who serves as the Governor of Sokoto State in Nigeria, having won election during the 2015 general elections and re-elected in the 2019 general elections. Tambuwal is a member of the People's Democratic Party and served as the 10th Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria, also representing the Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency of Sokoto State as an honorable. Early life and education Aminu was born on January 10, 1966, in Tambuwal Village in Sokoto State to Hausa parent, Waziri Tambuwal. He attended Tambuwal Primary School, Tambuwal, Sokoto State, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1979; and Government Teachers’ College, Dogon-Daji, where he obtained the Teachers Grade 11 Certificate in 1984. Wamako
Wamako is a Local Government Area in Sokoto State, Nigeria. Its headquarters is in the town of Wamako (or Wamakko) on the Sokoto River. History and Geography It has an area of 697 km and a population of 179,619 at the 2006 census.
