2019 Sky Blue FC Season
The 2019 Sky Blue FC season is the team's tenth season as a professional women's soccer team. Sky Blue FC plays in the National Women's Soccer League, the top tier of women's soccer in the United States. Since the 2018 Sky Blue finished in last place and only won one game, 2019 offered opportunities for improvement. The off-season didn't get off to a promising start as two of the team's top draft picks, Hailie Mace (2nd overall pick) and Julia Ashley (6th overall pick) chose not to sign with the club. Mace signed with FC Rosengård and Ashley with Linköpings FC. Sky Blue's third and fourth picks, Paige Monaghan (10th overall pick) and Julie James (11th overall pick) did however choose to come to preseason and were ultimately signed. Sky Blue FC
NJ/NY Gotham FC is a professional women's soccer team based in Harrison, New Jersey. Founded in 2006 as Jersey Sky Blue, the team was known as Sky Blue FC from 2008 until 2020. A founding member of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) in 2013, Sky Blue FC also played in the Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) from 2009 to 2011. Paige Monaghan
Paige Quinn Monaghan (born November 13, 1996) is an American professional soccer player who plays for Racing Louisville FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). She played college soccer at Butler University. Early years Monaghan grew up in the Succasunna section of Roxbury, New Jersey, alongside her mother Christine, dad Jim, two brothers and one sister. She attended Roxbury High School, where she played soccer for four years, scoring 68 goals in 45 appearances and earning the NJ.com's 2014 NJAC girls soccer Player of the Year award. Nahomi Kawasumi
is a Japanese footballer who plays for NJ/NY Gotham FC. A full international since 2008, she won gold at the 2011 World Cup as well as silver at the 2012 London Olympics and 2015 World Cup. During the 2011 World Cup, she scored two goals—including a lob at 35 yards away against Sweden during the semifinals—helping Japan eventually win the tournament for the first time in its history. Erica Marie Skroski (born February 14, 1994) is an American retired soccer player who played as a defender. Early life A native of Galloway Township, New Jersey, Skroski played soccer at Absegami High School. In 2011, she was named to the All-South Jersey Girls' Soccer First Team, and was named ''The Press of Atlantic City'' Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Jennifer Rose Hoy (born January 18, 1991) is an American former professional soccer forward. She played for Chicago Red Stars and Sky Blue FC of the NWSL. Early life Raised in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, Hoy attended Germantown Academy where she finished her high school career with 110 goals and 46 assists. She scored 36 goals during her senior year. Hoy was voted three-time league MVP and was named by the Philadelphia Inquirer as Player of the Year the same year. Hoy also earned all-league and all-state honors as a track athlete. Caprice Ka'anohikula Dydasco (born August 19, 1993) is an American soccer defender who plays as an right back for the Houston Dash in the National Women's Soccer League. She previously played for Pali Blues, the Washington Spirit, and Newcastle Jets. She played college soccer with the UCLA Bruins.
