2019 Shpageeza Cricket League
The 2019 season of the Shpageeza Cricket League was the sixth edition of the Shpageeza, a professional Twenty20 cricket (T20) league established by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) in 2013, and the second edition to have official T20 status. The tournament featured the six regional teams that played in the previous season. The event took place between 9 and 18 October 2019, with the Alokozay Kabul International Cricket Ground hosting all the matches. The number of overseas players participating was significantly reduced from the previous edition, with the subsequent launch of the Afghanistan Premier League making that the main franchise Twenty20 league run by the ACB. Mis Ainak Knights won the tournament, after they beat Band-e-Amir Dragons by four wickets in the final. Noor Ali Zadran (Mis Ainak Knights) was the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 354, and Nijat Masood (Band-e-Amir Dragons) took the most wickets with 11. Shpageeza Cricket League
The Shpageeza Cricket League (SCL, also known as the Alokozay Cola Shpageeza Cricket League for sponsorship reasons and Etisalat Sixes T20) ( ps, شپږیزه کرکټ لیګ) is a Twenty20 cricket tournament organized by the Afghanistan Cricket Board every year in Afghanistan. The Shpageeza tournament is established with eight franchises, including players from the national team, overseas, players from the ‘A’ team and players from the under 19 team as well as elite performers from the respective regions participating in this tournament. In addition, ACB has given the league an identity by franchising all team while players will be selected through a draft for each team. Boost Defenders
Boost Defenders ( ps, بوست ساتونکي ''Bōst Sātūnkī'') or Boost Region is one of eight regional first-class cricket teams in Afghanistan. The region represents the following provinces in the south and southwest of Afghanistan: Kandahar, Helmand, Nimroz, Uruzgan and Zabul. The team is named after ''Bōst'', the historical name of Lashkargah city in Helmand Province. Boost Region compete in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament, which has first-class status from 2017 onwards. In October 2017, they won their opening fixture of the tournament, against Mis Ainak Region, by 73 runs. Fazal Zazai is an Afghan cricketer. He made his Twenty20 debut for Amo Sharks in the 2017 Shpageeza Cricket League on 14 September 2017. Shafiqullah Ghafari (born 8 October 2001) is an Afghan cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Kabul Region in the 2019 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament on 4 April 2019. He made his Twenty20 debut on 8 October 2019, for Mis Ainak Knights in the 2019 Shpageeza Cricket League. In December 2019, he was named in Afghanistan's squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In the opening fixture of the tournament, he took six wickets for fifteen runs. Mohammad Yamin Ahmadzai (born 25 July 1992) is an Afghan cricketer. Ahmadzai is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium-fast. He was born in Laghman Province. Bismillah Jan Shinwari (born 17 March 1984) is an Afghan cricket umpire. Amir Hamza Hotak (born 15 August 1991) is an Afghan cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman who bowls slow left-arm orthodox. Career Hotak was part of the Afghanistan Under-19 team which took part in the ICC Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. He made one appearance, which came against Papua New Guinea Under-19s.
