2019 SMU Mustangs Men's Soccer Team
The 2019 SMU Mustangs men's soccer team represented the Southern Methodist University during the 2019 NCAA Division I men's soccer season and the 2019 American Athletic Conference men's soccer season. The regular season began on August 30 and concluded on November 5. It was the program's 45th season fielding a men's varsity soccer team, and their 7th season in the AAC. The 2019 season was Kevin Hudson's fifth year as head coach for the program. SMU finished the season with an 18–2–1 overall record and a 5–1–1 conference record, second-best in the AAC. The Mustangs went on to win the AAC Tournament for the third-consecutive time and reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010. Westcott Field
Westcott Field is a stadium in University Park, Texas (an enclave of Dallas, Texas, Dallas) on the campus of Southern Methodist University. The 4,000-seat stadium is home to SMU SMU Mustangs men's soccer, men's and women's soccer. SMU has some fame in the American soccer community as being the only major university in Texas to field a men's NCAA Division I soccer team, even though the game is tremendously popular at the youth level statewide, and the Texas youth soccer scene is heralded nationwide. Westcott field was used as a training facility during the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Olathe, Kansas
Olathe ( ) is the county seat of Johnson County, Kansas, United States. It is the fourth-most populous city in both the Kansas City metropolitan area and the state of Kansas, with a 2020 population of 141,290. History 19th century Olathe was founded by John T. Barton in the spring of 1857. He rode to the center of Johnson County, and staked two quarter sections of land as the town site. He later described his ride to friends: "...the prairie was covered with verbena and other wild flowers. I kept thinking the land was beautiful and that I should name the town Beautiful." Coppell, Texas
Coppell ( ) is a city in the northwest corner of Dallas County in the U.S. state of Texas. It is a suburb of Dallas and a bedroom community in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. Its population was 42,983 at the 2020 census. A small area in the far northern portion of the city extends into neighboring Denton County. Nick Taylor (footballer)
Nicolas Taylor (born September 2, 1998) is a professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Orlando City B in MLS Next Pro. Born in the United States, he earned his first senior international cap for Cambodia in September 2022. Early years Growing up in Coppell, Texas, Taylor played soccer for Coppell High School where he won the Texas UIL 6A State Championship in 2016 and was named to the 2016–17 NSCAA Winter-Spring High School Boys All-American Team. He was a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year awards, Gatorade State Player of the Year nominee, finishing as runner-up in 2016. Taylor also played club soccer for Dallas Texans, helping the team become U.S. Youth Soccer National bronze medalist in 2013. With Dallas Texans, Taylor also won two State Cups and two Classic League Division I titles.
