2019 Rugby Europe Championship
The 2019 Rugby Europe Championship is the premier rugby union competition outside of the Six Nations Championship in Europe. This is the third season under its new format, that sees Georgia, Germany, Russia, Spain, Belgium and Romania compete for the title. After the eligibility controversy of the 2018 Championship, Romania had to face Portugal for the promotion- / relegation- play-off and defeated them, hence joining the competition as the sixth contender. Florin Vlaicu
Florin Vlaicu (born 26 July 1986 in Bucharest) is a former Romanian rugby union player. He played as a fly half or centre for professional Liga Națională de Rugby club SCM Timișoara. He could also play as a fullback, thus being considered a utility back due to his versatility. He is Romania's all time leading point scorer and the most capped player. Club career Junior years Vlaicu started playing rugby at RC Flamingo București, an amateur rugby club that recruited schoolboys suited for the sport. Valentin Nicolae Calafeteanu (born 25 January 1985) is a Romanian rugby union player. His position on the field is scrum-half. He has played for Dinamo Bucarest (2004–09), RCM UVT Timişoara (2010–17) and CSM Bucharest (2017–19). Playing for Dinamo, Calafeteanu became two times National Champion (2007, 2008) and won twice the National Cup. Mihai Macovei (born 29 October 1986) is a Romanian rugby union player. He plays in the flanker and occasionally number 8 position for French Pro D2 club Colomiers.
