2019 Roscommon County Council Election
A Roscommon County Council election was held in County Roscommon in Ireland on 24 May 2019 as part of 2019 Irish local elections, that year's local elections. All 18 councillors were elected for a five-year term of office from 3 local electoral areas (LEAs) by single transferable vote. Only three political parties (Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin) fielded candidates in Roscommon, the fewest of any Irish county/city in the 2019 local elections. The 2018 LEA boundary review committee made no changes to the LEAs used 2014 Roscommon County Council election, in the 2014 elections. 2014 Roscommon County Council Election
An election to Roscommon County Council took place on 23 May 2014 as part of the 2014 Irish local elections, a reduction from 26 seats at the 2009 Roscommon County Council election, 2009 election. County Roscommon was divided into three local electoral areas (LEAs) to elect councillors for a five-year term of office on the electoral system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote (PR-STV). In addition, the town council (Ireland), town council of Boyle, County Roscommon, Boyle was abolished. Fine Gael lost 7 seats, including a number of long-serving councillors; due to voter anger over continuous boil water notices and the closure of the Accident and Emergency Department at Roscommon University Hospital; the latter leading to a split in the party locally. Fianna Fáil and Independents performed well in the election with the former becoming the largest party in Roscommon for the first time since 1985. Results by party Results by local electoral ar ...
