María Belén Pérez Maurice
María Belén Pérez Maurice (born 12 July 1985) is an Argentinian sabre fencer who was Pan American champion in 2014. She was the only representative of the sport from Argentina at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Career Pérez Maurice started fencing at the age of thirteen at the instigation of her mother, an amateur fencer. She did not like the sport at first but took an interest after her first victory. She trained at the Círculo Militar in Buenos Aires–her father is a colonel in the Argentine Army– under Lucas Saucedo, who remains her coach as of 2014. She first fenced foil, a weapon in which she reached the quarter-finals at the 2006 Buenos Aires World Cup, then switched to sabre for the 2006–07 season. Gabriella Charlotte Page (born October 29, 1994) is a Canadian fencer. Biography In 2015, she won one of the bronze medals in the women's sabre event at the Pan American Games held in Toronto, Canada. She also won a bronze medal in the same event at the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru. She also competed at the Pan American Fencing Championships where she won a bronze medal in the individual sabre event in 2019; bronze medals in the team sabre event in 2012, 2013 and 2016; and competed in 2014, 2015 and 2018. Mariel Leigh Zagunis (born March 3, 1985) is an American sabre fencer. She is a two-time Olympic champion in the individual sabre ( 2004 and 2008) and the first American to win a gold medal in Olympic fencing. She was Team USA flag bearer in the 2012 Summer Olympics Parade of Nations. She has two Olympic bronze team medals (in 2008 and 2016) and is a five-time Olympian (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020). Anne-Elizabeth Stone, commonly known as Eliza Stone, (born December 31, 1990) is an American sabre fencer. Her results include an individual bronze medal at the 2018 World Fencing Championships and a team gold medal in the 2014 World Championships. Career Stone grew up fencing with her younger brother and sister in Chicago. She first took ballet lessons. She switched to fencing at the age of ten after her father saw a flier for a fencing club at a pizza parlor and thought it would be a good sport for his children. Nathalie Moellhausen (born 1 December 1985) is an épée fencer who initially represented Italy and now represents Brazil. In 2019, she became her country's first-ever individual World Champion in épée at the Championships held in Budapest, Hungary. With the Italy team, she won the team World championship in 2009 and team European championship in 2007. Maria Montoya Martinez (1887 – July 20, 1980) was a Native American artist who created internationally known pottery. Martinez (born Maria Poveka Montoya), her husband Julian, and other family members, including her son Popovi Da, examined traditional Pueblo pottery styles and techniques to create pieces which reflect the Pueblo people's legacy of fine artwork and crafts. The works of Maria Martinez, and especially her black ware pottery, survive in many museums, including the Smithsonian, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, and more. Kelley Hurley
Kelley Hurley (born April 4, 1988) is an American épée fencer. She won the bronze medal in the women's team épée event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. A standout at the University of Notre Dame, she was a 4-time All-American. She has qualified to represent the United States in fencing at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo in 2021. Coached by their father, Bob Hurley, Kelley and her younger sister Courtney have competed on World Teams together since Kelley was 17. Kelley qualified for her first Olympic Team in 2008 as the only women's épée fencer from the United States to do so. In 2012, Hurley qualified for her second team as a replacement athlete. Eleanor Harvey
Eleanor Harvey (born January 14, 1995) is a Canadian foil fencer from Hamilton, Ontario. Harvey won the gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto in the women's team foil event. She is also a former world junior silver medallist in the women's individual foil event. Early life Harvey became interested in becoming an Olympian while watching 2000 Sydney Games. She began training for long distance running before turning to karate at eight years ago. She trained karate for two years before realizing that karate was not an Olympic sport at that time. Harvey changed to practice fencing after a family friend heard a radio interview with Sherraine Schalm.
