The 2019 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup, also known as the 2019 Honda Click–PBA Philippine Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the first conference of the 2019 PBA season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The 41st PBA Philippine Cup began on January 13 and ended on May 15, 2019. The tournament does not allow teams to hire foreign players or imports. Format The following format will be observed for the duration of the conference: * Single-round robin eliminations; 11 games per team; Teams are then seeded by basis on win–loss records. *Top eight teams will advance to the quarterfinals. Manila Clasico refers to the rivalry between the two most popular professional basketball teams in the Philippines today, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the Magnolia Hotshots, both owned by San Miguel Corporation. The former represents the Ginebra San Miguel franchise while the latter carries the San Miguel Pure Foods franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Overview The two teams have won a total of 27 championships: the Purefoods franchise taking 14, and the Ginebra franchise 13. However, as of the end of the 2020 PBA season, the Ginebra and Purefoods franchises have only met in the finals twice in the 32 seasons they have been together in the league. The PBA on One Sports (formerly known as the PBA on AKTV, PBA on Sports5 and PBA on ESPN5) is the presentation of Philippine Basketball Association basketball games which started in the 2011-12 season. Telecasts are produced by One Sports (formerly Sports5 and ESPN5), the sports division of TV5 Network Inc., and aired through TV5, One Sports, PBA Rush and simulcasted through livestreaming at Cignal Play and Smart GigaPlay. Also, there is a separate coverage in English commentary on PBA Rush starting July 15, 2016. The SM Mall of Asia Arena, also known as the Mall of Asia Arena or the MoA Arena, is an indoor arena within the SM Mall of Asia complex, in Bay City, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines.
