2019 Ole Miss Rebels Football Team
The 2019 Ole Miss Rebels football team represented The University of Mississippi in the 2019 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Rebels played their home games at Vaught–Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi and competed in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They were led by third-year head coach Matt Luke. Previous season The Rebels finished the 2018 season 5–7, 1–7 in SEC play to finish in sixth place in the Western Division. The 2018 season was the last season in which the Rebels had to serve a postseason ban. Matt Luke (American Football)
Matthew Barham Luke (born October 29, 1976) is an American football coach and former player who, most recently served as the associate head coach and offensive line coach at the University of Georgia. Luke was fired from his previous job as the head coach at the University of Mississippi after amassing a 15–21 record over three seasons. Playing career Luke was born in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was a standout at Gulfport High School, but he was a walk-on at Ole Miss, where scholarships were limited because of NCAA sanctions. He played center there from 1995 to 1998, graduating in 2000. His father, Tommy Luke, played defensive back at Ole Miss in the 1960s while his older brother, Tom Luke, played quarterback there from 1989 to 1991. Jonathan Ondreal Mingo (born April 20, 2001) is an American football wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Ole Miss. Early life and high school Mingo grew up in Brandon, Mississippi, and attended Brandon High School. Mingo was rated a four-star recruit and committed to play college football at Ole Miss over offers from Georgia, Auburn, and Mississippi State. Sumrall, Mississippi
Sumrall is a town in Lamar County, Mississippi. It is part of the Hattiesburg, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,421 at the 2010 census. History Sumrall was one of many new towns incorporated along the Mississippi Central Railroad during the first decade of the 20th century. Prior to the arrival of the railroad, founder Daniel Sumrall operated a grist mill along Mill Creek. In 1890, the federal government established a post office in the community and named it Sumrall. The J. J. Newman Company, headed by Fenwick Peck, chose the site as the location for a large sawmill. Situated in the heart of South Mississippi's pine belt, the location was ideal for just such a large mill. Jackson Preparatory School (Jackson Prep) is an independent, coeducational, day school enrolling 700 students in grades five through twelve. Flowood is a city in Rankin County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 10,202 at the 2020 U.S. Census. It is part of the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area. Jerrion Zawasky Ealy (born August 19, 2000) is an American football wide receiver and running back for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL).
