2019 Ohio Valley Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2019 Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball tournament was the final event of the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, 2018–19 season in the Ohio Valley Conference. The tournament was held March 6 through March 9, 2019 at the Ford Center (Evansville), Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana. The final featured the regular-season co-champions in 2018–19 Belmont Bruins men's basketball team, Belmont and 2018–19 Murray State Racers men's basketball team, Murray State, with Murray State winning 77–65 and thus earning the conference's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA tournament. Seeds Only the top eight teams in the conference qualified for the tournament. Teams are seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds receive double byes to the semifinals. Ford Center (Evansville)
The Ford Center is a multi-use indoor arena in downtown Evansville, Indiana with a maximum seating capacity of 11,000. It officially opened in November 2011 and is mainly used for basketball, ice hockey, and music concerts. It is home to the Evansville Thunderbolts minor league hockey team in the Southern Professional Hockey League and the Evansville Purple Aces men's basketball team, representing the University of Evansville. The UE women's basketball team also played at Ford Center from the venue's opening, but moved its home games back to its campus starting with the 2017–18 season. Events The first public event held at the Ford Center was an Evansville IceMen hockey game on November 5, 2011, when the IceMen defeated the Fort Wayne Komets 3–1. 2018–19 Jacksonville State Gamecocks Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 Jacksonville State Gamecocks men's basketball team represented Jacksonville State University during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Gamecocks, led by third-year head coach Ray Harper, played their home games at the Pete Mathews Coliseum in Jacksonville, Alabama as members of the Ohio Valley Conference. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop.
