2019 Ohio Bobcats Football Team
The 2019 Ohio Bobcats football team represented Ohio University in the 2019 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by 15th year head coach Frank Solich and played their home games at Peden Stadium in Athens, Ohio, as members of the East Division of the Mid-American Conference. Previous season The Bobcats finished the 2018 season with a 9–4 record for the second straight year and finished the conference tied for second place with a 6–2 Conference Record and a invite to the Frisco Bowl where they defeated the San Diego State Aztecs. Preseason MAC media poll The MAC released their preseason media poll on July 23, 2019, with the Bobcats predicted to finish in first place in the East Division. Ohio was also picked as the overall favorite to win the MAC Championship Game. Frank Solich
Frank Thomas Solich (born September 8, 1944) is a former American football coach and former player. He is the former head coach at Ohio University, a position he held from 2005 until 2021. From 1998 to 2003, Solich served as the head coach at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he also played fullback under Bob Devaney in the mid-1960s. Early life and playing career Solich grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from Holy Name High School in 1962, where he earned all-state, All-America, and all-scholastic honors. He scored 104 points in high school but was being overlooked due his height, 5'7", and weight, 153 lbs. When he got to his college weigh-in he got his trainer to tape 8 pound weights under his shorts. He now made weight at 162 lbs. He was a part of Bob Devaney’s first recruiting class at Nebraska, and became a standout for the Huskers in the mid-1960s, where he earned the nickname "Fearless Frankie".
