2019 Netball New Zealand Super Club
The 2019 Netball New Zealand Super Club was the third edition of the invitational club-based netball tournament organised by Netball New Zealand. With a team coached by Rob Wright, captained by Geva Mentor and featuring Natalie Medhurst, Ashleigh Brazill and Shimona Nelson, Collingwood Magpies finished the 2019 tournament as winners after defeating Northern Mystics 49–42 in the final. The staging of the 2019 tournament was delayed because of the 2019 Netball World Cup. This effectively made it a pre-season tournament for the teams involved. All the matches were hosted at the Trafalgar Centre in Nelson between 8 December and 13 December 2019 and were broadcast live on Sky Sport (New Zealand). Teams The tournament featured eight teams. Netball New Zealand Super Club
The Netball New Zealand Super Club was a netball tournament organised by Netball New Zealand. It featured teams from the ANZ Premiership as well as invited overseas teams, including teams from Australia, Great Britain, South Africa and Singapore. Southern Steel won the inaugural 2017 tournament, while Central Pulse and Collingwood Magpies won the subsequent 2018 and 2019 tournaments respectively. Netball Superleague
The Netball Super League is a top level netball league featuring teams from the United Kingdom. The league is organised by England Netball but features teams based in England, Wales and Scotland. The league was commenced playing at the 2005–06 season, replacing the Super Cup as the elite netball competition in England. Since 2016 the league has been sponsored by VitalityHealth and, as a result, it is also known as the Vitality Netball Superleague. Historically the league's most successful teams are Team Bath, who have won five titles, and the Mavericks, who have played in seven grand finals. In more recent times, Surrey Storm won successive titles in 2015 and 2016 and Wasps have played in three successive finals, winning two titles, between 2017 and 2019. Ameliaranne Ekenasio
Ameliaranne Ekenasio (née Wells; born 11 January 1991) is an Australian-born, New Zealand netball player. She currently plays for Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in the ANZ Premiership. Ekenasio is known for her high work rate and smooth long-range shooting. Ekenasio made her New Zealand debut in the 2014 Constellation Cup against Australia. She missed the 2017 season due to the birth of her son Ocean, but returned to take a full part in 2018. In a remarkable comeback, she was selected for the New Zealand netball team to compete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, however the Silver Ferns team failed to medal. Saviour Tui
Saviour Tui (born 17 October 2001) is a Samoa netball international. Tui was a member of three title winning teams in New Zealand's National Netball League. In 2018 and 2019, Tui won titles with Central Zone/Central Manawa. In 2021 she won a third title with Northern Marvels. She was also a member of the Central Pulse team that won the 2018 Netball New Zealand Super Club tournament. She was a fringe member of the 2021 Northern Mystics team that were ANZ Premiership champions. Since 2022, she has played for Southern Steel in the ANZ Premiership. Bailey Mes (born 27 May 1989) is an Auckland born New Zealand netball player. She can play at goal shoot, goal attack, and wing attack. Grace Nweke
Grace Nweke is a New Zealand netball international. She first competed for New Zealand in September 2021, becoming the fourth person of African descent to play for the team, following in the footsteps of Irene Van Dyk, Leana de Bruin and Karin Burger, all born in South Africa. Early life Grace Nweke was born in Auckland on 7 February 2002, to parents who emigrated to New Zealand from Nigeria. She has a twin brother and four other siblings. Tiana Metuarau
Tiana Metuarau (born 15 January 2001) is a New Zealand netball international. Between 2017 and 2020, she was a prominent member of the Central Pulse team that won the 2018 Super Club title and the 2019 and 2020 ANZ Premiership titles. In 2022, Metuarau was co-captain of the Pulse team that won a third ANZ Premiership title. Early life, family and education Metuarau is the daughter of Waimarama Taumaunu and George Metuarau. Aliyah Dunn (born 19 October 1999) is a New Zealand netball international. Dunn was a prominent member of the Central Pulse teams that won the 2019, 2020 and 2022 ANZ Premiership titles. Rachel Margaret Dunn (born 14 November 1982) is an English international netball player. Dunn debuted for the England national netball team in 2004 against South Africa, and was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games, and a silver medal at the 2010 World Netball Series. Kalifa McCollin
Kalifa McCollin (born 18 July 1995) is a netball player from Trinidad and Tobago, who plays for the Collingwood Magpies in the Suncorp Super Netball league. Career McCollin's netball career commenced from a young age. Born in Trinidad and Tobago to sports-coaching parents, she was selected to play for the under-16 international team at the age of 12, and rose up the international ranks to make her senior debut for the national team in 2015, at the age of 17. Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic are a New Zealand netball team based in Hamilton. Between 1999 and 2007, they played in the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Since 2017, Magic have represented Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty in the ANZ Premiership. Southern Steel
Southern Steel are a New Zealand netball team based in Invercargill. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Since 2017 they have represented Netball South in the ANZ Premiership. Netball South is the governing body that represents Southland and Otago. In 2017 they won their first premiership when they were the inaugural ANZ Premiership winners.
