2019 NHL Stadium Series
The 2019 NHL Stadium Series (officially the 2019 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series) was a regular season National Hockey League (NHL) game played outdoors, as part of the Stadium Series of games held at football or baseball stadiums. The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4–3 in overtime at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 23, 2019. This was the only game in the Stadium Series held during the 2018–19 season (as opposed to multiple games in 2014 and 2016). Background In 2016, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers worked out an agreement to play a home-and-home series of outdoors games. The first game that was planned eventually became the 2017 Stadium Series game at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. The 2018–19 Pittsburgh Penguins season was the 52nd season for the National Hockey League team that was established on June 5, 1967. The Penguins clinched a playoff spot on April 4, 2019, after a 4–1 win against the Detroit Red Wings. 2017 NHL Stadium Series
The 2017 NHL Stadium Series (officially the 2017 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series for sponsorship reasons) was a regular season National Hockey League (NHL) game played outdoors, part of the Stadium Series of games held at football or baseball stadiums. The Philadelphia Flyers played against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on February 25, 2017. This was the only game in the Stadium Series scheduled during the 2016–17 NHL season (as opposed to multiple games in 2016), but the fourth and last outdoor regular-season games during that season. An announced attendance of 67,318 made the game one of the most attended outdoor NHL games in history. Patric Hörnqvist
Patric Gösta Hörnqvist (; born 1 January 1987) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player and alternate captain for the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League. He has also played for the Nashville Predators and Pittsburgh Penguins. Hörnqvist won his first Stanley Cup championship when the Penguins defeated the San Jose Sharks in six games in the 2016 Stanley Cup Finals. Justin Schultz
Justin Schultz (born July 6, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). Schultz was born in Kelowna, British Columbia, and grew up in the nearby City of West Kelowna. He has previously played in the NHL for the Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals. Schultz won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Penguins in 2016 and 2017. Oskar Lindblom
Oskar Lindblom (born 15 August 1996) is a Swedish professional ice hockey forward for the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Early life Lindblom was born on 15 August 1996 in Gävle, Sweden. One of his childhood idols was Washington Capitals player Nicklas Bäckström, also from Gävle. Lindblom's father Johan played for several Swedish hockey teams. Lindblom and his two brothers, Marcus and Linus, began playing hockey at a young age, helped by their father. Sean Gerald Couturier ( ; born December 7, 1992) is an American-born Canadian professional ice hockey player and alternate captain for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Flyers selected him in the first round, eighth overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Couturier was born in Phoenix, Arizona, where his father was playing hockey at the time, but moved to Bathurst, New Brunswick after his father's retirement. Kristopher Joseph Pierre Irwin Letang (born April 24, 1987) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman and Captain (ice hockey)#Alternate captains, alternate captain for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL). James Van Riemsdyk
James van Riemsdyk ( ; born May 4, 1989) is an American professional ice hockey left winger for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Between 2012 and 2018, he played in the NHL for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Van Riemsdyk was born in Middletown, New Jersey, and played minor ice hockey with local clubs through his childhood. Jakub Voráček (; born 15 August 1989) is a Czech professional ice hockey right winger who plays for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Claude Giroux (; born January 12, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward and alternate captain for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has previously played for the Philadelphia Flyers and the Florida Panthers.
