2019 Meeting De Paris
The 2019 Meeting de Paris was the 25th edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Paris, France. Held on 24 August 2019 at the Stade Sébastien Charléty, it was the twelfth leg of the 2019 IAAF Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. This was the first time the meeting was held on the stadium's renovated blue running track. Despite no world-leading performances, three meeting records were set at the competition, all in the men's section. American Noah Lyles improved on Usain Bolt's time in the 200 metres with his finish in 19.65 seconds, another American Will Claye had a triple jump of 18.06 m to better Jonathan Edwards's former mark, and New Zealand's Tom Walsh set a new standard in the shot put with . Stade Sébastien Charléty
Stade Sébastien-Charléty (; ), also known as Stade Charléty or Charléty, is a multi-purpose stadium located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, France. Comprising a running track and a football field, the stadium is a 20,000-seat state-owned venue used for numerous sports and events. It is also the current home ground of the rugby union team of Paris Université Club, who operate the venue, and the association football clubs Paris FC and Paris 13 Atletico. History The stadium opened in 1938 and was designed by French architect Bernard Zehrfuss. 1500 Metres
The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run (typically pronounced 'fifteen-hundred metres') is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately miles. The event is closely associated with its slightly longer cousin, the mile race, from which it derives its nickname "the metric mile". The demands of the race are similar to that of the 800 metres, but with a slightly higher emphasis on aerobic endurance and a slightly lower sprint speed requirement. The 1500 metre race is predominantly aerobic, but anaerobic conditioning is also required. Ayanleh Souleiman (born 3 December 1992), also known as ''Hassan Ayanleh'' ( so, Xasan Ayaanle Saleebaan) is a Djiboutian middle distance runner who specialises in the 1500 metres. He is the current South African record holder in the 200 metres, with a time of 19.69, set on 16 March 2018 at the South African national championships. Ejowvokoghene Divine Oduduru (born 7 October 1996) is a Nigerian sprinter specializing in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. Christophe Lemaitre
Christophe Lemaitre (; born 11 June 1990) is a French sprinter who specialises in the 100 and 200 metres. In 2010, Lemaitre became the first white athlete to break the 10-second barrier in an officially timed 100 m event. Lemaitre has run a sub-10 second 100m on seven occasions: three times in 2010 and four times in 2011. He won a bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m relay at the 2012 London Olympic Games and in the 200 metres at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. At the age of 20, Lemaitre won the 100 m, 200 m and the 4×100 m relay titles at the 2010 European Championships, the first French sprinter ever to achieve that triple. Álex Quiñónez
Álex Leonardo Quiñónez Martínez (11 August 1989 – 22 October 2021) was an Ecuadorian sprinter who competed in the 100 metres and 200 metres. Shot to death in October 2021, he was the second runner to be murdered that month, alongside fellow bronze medalist Agnes Tirop. He won the 100 m and 200m at the 2012 Ibero-American Championships in Athletics, with his 20.34s national record in the 200 m qualifying him for the Olympics. He ran a new Ecuadorian national record of 20.28 s in the heats of the 200 metres at the 2012 Summer Olympics and qualified himself for the final. He finished seventh in the final. Quiñónez won the bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships in the 200 metres event. He qualified to represent Ecuador at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the 200m in Tokyo but was provisionally suspended for "whereabouts failures" less than a month before the games began. Aaron Brown (born 27 May 1992) is a Canadian sprinter who specializes in the 100 and 200 metres. As part of Canada's 4×100 m relay team, he is a two-time Olympic medallist at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics, and the 2022 World champion. Brown has also won two World bronze medals as part of Canada's 4×100 m relay teams in 2013 and 2015. Alysha Eveline Newman (born 29 June 1994) is a Canadian track and field athlete who specializes in the pole vault. She competed at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games.
