2019 Global Rapid Rugby Season
The 2019 Global Rapid Rugby season was a showcase series for seven rugby union teams played in locations across the Asia-Pacific region. Global Rapid Rugby originally planned a full home and away tournament followed by finals, with eight teams competing in 2019. The competition launch was postponed by a year, however, due to the short time frame following World Rugby approval in November 2018. A scaled-down showcase series of fourteen matches was arranged instead. Leon Fukofuka (born 8 September 1994) is a rugby union player who currently plays as a halfback for in New Zealand's domestic Mitre 10 Cup and is a international. Early career The son of former Auckland and Prop, Kalau Fukofuka, Leon was born and raised in West Auckland and played first XV rugby for Kelston Boys' High School, initially as a flanker before switching to halfback in year 11. Malaysia Valke
The Malaysia Valke was a professional rugby union team based in Kuala Lumpur that played in the Global Rapid Rugby competition. The team was formed in 2019 as a joint venture between Malaysia Rugby and the Falcons Rugby Union of South Africa, but was disbanded a year later after the incomplete 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The team was scheduled to play three matches in 2020 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur and two matches at Stadium TUDM on the Subang base of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF or in Malay, TUDM: ''Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia''). Aberdeen Sports Ground () is a rugby union and football sports ground situated at 108 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Aberdeen, Hong Kong. It is the home stadium of Hong Kong Premier League football club Southern and Global Rapid Rugby rugby union team South China Tigers. Inside the stadium, there is one running track (6 lanes, 400m) and one natural grass pitch. Aberdeen Sports Ground is also the venue for 30 Hour Famine in Hong Kong. The South China Tigers is a professional rugby union team from Hong Kong that plays in the Global Rapid Rugby competition. The team was launched in 2018 to participate in the inaugural Global Rapid Rugby season. For the naming of the team, South China tigers are considered as the most distinctive of all tiger subspecies. The population once numbered more than 4,000 in the wild, distributed from Hunan, Jiangxi in the north to as far south as Hong Kong. Ballymore is a rugby union stadium situated in Herston, Queensland, Herston, a suburb of Brisbane, Australia. It is the headquarters of Queensland Rugby Union and was the home ground of the Brisbane City (rugby team), Brisbane City team in the National Rugby Championship, until the league's disbandment in 2019. 2019 Pacific Games
The 2019 Pacific Games was the sixteenth edition of the Pacific Games. The Games were held in Apia, Samoa, returning there for the first time since 2007. It was the third time overall that the Pacific Games were held in Samoa. The event was initially awarded to Nukuʻalofa, Tonga, but the Tongan government officially withdrew from hosting it in May 2017, amid concerns the country could face economic difficulties if it proceeded.
