2019 Detroit Tigers Season
The 2019 Detroit Tigers season was the team's 119th season. This was the team's second year under manager Ron Gardenhire. They finished the season 47–114, their worst since 2003 when they went 43–119. It was their first 100-loss season for the team since said season. It was also the second straight season where any team finished with fewer than 50 wins, after the 2018 Orioles who themselves finished with only 47 wins. The Tigers only played 161 games in 2019 due to a late-season rainout in Chicago which was not made up due to both teams missing the playoffs. After the Tigers won 7 of their first 10 games, the team lost 111 of the next 151 games. The stretch included eight different losing streaks of 5+ games, including a season-long nine-game losing streak from May 13–23. They were officially eliminated from playoff contention on August 24. American League Central
The American League Central is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. This division was formed in the realignment of 1994 by moving three teams from the American League West and two teams from the American League East. Its teams are all located in the Midwestern United States. Along with the National League East, the AL Central is one of two divisions in the Major Leagues in which all of its members have won a World Series title. 2019 Minnesota Twins Season
The 2019 Minnesota Twins season was the 59th season for the Minnesota Twins franchise in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, their 10th season at Target Field and the 119th overall in the American League. It was the first year under new manager Rocco Baldelli who was hired on October 25, 2018 following the firing of previous manager Paul Molitor on October 2. It was also the first season since 2004 without longtime Twin Joe Mauer on the roster, as he announced his retirement on November 9, 2018 after 15 seasons. His number 7 was retired on June 15, 2019. They improved upon their record from the previous season, and clinched the AL Central division for the first time since 2010 on September 25. ''The Detroit News'' is one of the two major newspapers in the U.S. city of Detroit, Michigan. The paper began in 1873, when it rented space in the rival ''Detroit Free Press'' building. The Arizona Diamondbacks (colloquially known as the D-backs) are an American professional baseball team based in Phoenix. Artie Lewicki
Arthur Michael Lewicki (born April 8, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is currently a free agent. He previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers and Arizona Diamondbacks and in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) for the SSG Landers. Career A native of Wyckoff, New Jersey, Lewicki attended Saint Joseph Regional High School. After graduating from high school, Lewicki played college baseball at the University of Virginia. James Charles Adduci (born May 15, 1985) is a Canadian–born American professional baseball coach and former outfielder and first baseman who is the assistant hitting coach and game planning coach for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played in MLB for the Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, and Cubs, and in the KBO League for the Lotte Giants. Dixon Javier Machado Moreno (born February 22, 1992) is a Venezuelan professional baseball shortstop in the Houston Astros organization. Craig Keystone Monroe (nicknamed "C. Mo") (born February 27, 1977) is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) outfielder and current sportscaster. Daniel Joseph Petry ( ; born November 13, 1958) is an American former Major League Baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers (1979–87 and 1990–91), California Angels (1988–89), Atlanta Braves (1991) and Boston Red Sox (1991).
