2019 Continental Cup
The 2019 World Financial Group Continental Cup was held from January 17 to 20 at the Orleans Arena in Paradise, Nevada. This was the fourth time the event is being held in Paradise and the fourth time outside Canada. The event featured new team scramble competitions, with players from different traditional teams competing together, along with the mixed doubles, team, and skins competitions seen in previous years. Team World was in the lead for the entirety of the event. However, a strong performance from Team North America in the final skins draw, holding Team World to 0.5 points in the first seven ends of all three matches, led to the winner being decided in the eighth and final end. The cup was decided in the women's game when Eve Muirhead made a hit and stick to win a skin worth 2.5 points against Team Rachel Homan to clinch the title. Paradise, Nevada
Paradise is an unincorporated town and census-designated place (CDP) in Clark County, Nevada, United States, adjacent to the city of Las Vegas. It was formed on December 8, 1950. Dawn Kathleen McEwen (born Askin; July 3, 1980) is a Canadian retired curling, curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was the long-time lead for the Jennifer Jones (curler), Jennifer Jones rink, who became Olympic champions, winning gold for Canada at the Curling at the 2014 Winter Olympics, 2014 Winter Olympics. Jill Officer
Jill Officer (born June 2, 1975) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Officer played second for the teams skipped by Jennifer Jones from 2003 to 2018 and while they were juniors. The team won a gold medal while representing Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Team Jones was the first women’s team to go through an Olympic campaign undefeated. The team has also won two World Curling Championships in 2008 and 2018, while going through the later event without a loss on their way to gold. Officer has played on and off with Jones since she was 15. Together they won six national championships in 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2015 and 2018. Jeff Stoughton
Jeffrey R. "Jeff" Stoughton (born July 26, 1963) is a Canadian retired curler. He is a three-time Brier champion and two-time World champion as skip. Stoughton retired from competitive curling in 2015. He is one of the most successful Manitoba skips in curling history, and one of the most successful players in Canadian curling history. He is currently the National Men's Coach and Program Manager for Curling Canada, as well as being the head coach of the Canadian Mixed Doubles National Team. Monica Walker
Monica Walker (born February 20, 1987) is an American curler originally from Brighton, Massachusetts. She is a three-time national champion. Curling career Walker began curling in 1997. In adult competitions, she placed 4th at the U.S. National Championships in 2012 and again in 2013. In 2016 Walker and Persinger left Roth's team to join Jamie Sinclair as the front end of a new team, with Alex Carlson as third. This new team found success, winning the 2017 U.S. Championships, but missed out on going to the World Championship due to not having enough points on the World Curling Tour. Taylor Anderson (born February 25, 1995) is an American curler from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Along with her twin sister Sarah, she was United States National Champion in 2019 and World Junior silver medalist in 2016. Curling career Juniors Anderson was a member of Team USA at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics, playing lead on the team, which was skipped by Korey Dropkin. They finished in fifth place. Jamie Sinclair
Jamie Ann Sinclair (born February 21, 1992) is an American-Canadian curler from Osgoode, Ontario and is a three-time U.S. National Champion. Her United States Curling Association membership is through the Charlotte Curling Association in Charlotte, North Carolina where she has a number of personal connections. She grew up in Manotick, Ontario, a suburb of Ottawa. Curling career 2007–2013: Juniors Sinclair won a gold medal at the 2007 Canada Winter Games, playing lead for the Rachel Homan rink. John Landsteiner
John Landsteiner (born May 19, 1990) is an American curler and two-time Olympian. He competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics and won gold as part of John Shuster's team in the 2018 Winter Olympics. Career Landsteiner was a prolific junior curler, playing in the United States Junior Curling Championships six times every year from 2007 through 2011. His best finish was in 2008 when he earned the bronze medal playing lead for Brad Caldwell. In 2011 Landsteiner participated at the World Junior Championships as alternate for Aaron Wald's team. Since aging out of juniors in 2012, Landsteiner has played lead for John Shuster's team. Matt Hamilton (curler)
Matthew James Hamilton (born February 19, 1989) is an American curler from McFarland, Wisconsin. He is a World Junior Champion, World Men's bronze medalist, and Olympic gold medalist. Hamilton currently plays second for the Duluth, Minnesota-based John Shuster team. Curling career 2007–2014: Early career Hamilton played for skip Jeremy Roe at the 2007 and 2008 United States Men's National Championships, placing seventh and ninth, respectively. Christopher Plys
Christopher Plys (; born August 13, 1987) is an American curler from Duluth, Minnesota. He is a Junior World Champion and two-time National Men's Champion. He was the alternate for the United States men's team at the 2010 Winter Olympics and a member of both the men's team and the mixed doubles team at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Career Plys started curling in 1998 at the age of eleven. He competed at seven Junior National Championships in a row, winning five of them, including four in a row as skip to finish his junior career. This gives him more junior national titles as skip than any other junior male. As US Champion, he competed at four World Junior Championships.
