The 2019 Canoe Marathon European Championships took place between 25 and 28 July 2019 at Decize, France. The competition consisted of twenty-one events – twelve in kayak and nine in canoe – shared between junior, under-23 and senior categories. Decize
Decize is a commune in the Nièvre department in central France. Geography The town is situated on a former island in the Loire ("en Loire assise") at the confluence of the Aron river. The right channel of the Loire was dammed up to reclaim land and now remains as an arm ("la Vieille Loire") stretching upstream to the centre of town. The Loire at this point is an important navigation point as it forms the junction between the Canal du Nivernais and the Canal latéral à la Loire both of which are within the town boundaries. History Decize is an ancient settlement first noted in the Commentarii de Bello Gallico where Julius Caesar settled a dispute involving the Decetiae from whom comes the town's name—in Roman times the town’s name was Decetia in Gallia Lugdunensis. Iván Daniel Alonso Vallejo (born 10 April 1979) is a Uruguayan former professional footballer who played as a striker. Gifted with an excellent aerial ability, he was most noted for his Alavés stint, and spent the bulk of his professional career in Spain, playing for three teams and appearing in seven La Liga seasons, three each with Alavés and Espanyol.
