2019 Canadian Soccer League Season
The 2019 Canadian Soccer League season was the 22nd season under the Canadian Soccer League name. The season started on May 19, 2019, and concluded on October 26, 2019, with the CSL Championship final. Fixtures for the 2019 season were announced on April 30, 2019. The final consisted of Scarborough SC defeating FC Ukraine United at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto, Ontario to claim their first championship title. The First Division title went to FC Vorkuta along with the Second Division title, and championship. The single new addition to the First Division was Kingsman SC, and the departures occurred in the Second Division with Halton United, London City, and Milton SC becoming founding members of the Canadian Academy of Soccer League (CASL). The Canadian Soccer League (CSL; french: Ligue canadienne de soccer — LCS) is a semi-professional league for Canadian soccer clubs primarily located in the province of Ontario, and claims the history of the Canadian National Soccer League (CNSL). It is a Non-FIFA international football, Non-FIFA league previously sanctioned by the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA), but now affiliated with the Soccer Federation of Canada (SFC). As of 2022 Canadian Soccer League season, 2022, it consists of six teams all located in Ontario. The season runs from May to October, with most games played on the weekend followed by a playoff format to determine the overall champion. York Region Shooters is a Canadian soccer team, that plays in the Canadian Soccer League. The Shooters played their home games at the St. Joan of Arc Turf Field in the City of Vaughan, Ontario. The team's colours were blue and white, mirroring those of the Italy national football team and reflecting the cultural heritage of the club. The club had also competed under various different names as Vaughan Sun Devils, Vaughan Shooters, Italia Shooters, and finally as York Region Shooters. SC Toronto was a Canadian soccer team, founded in 1994. The team was a member of the Canadian Soccer League, and played its final home games at Lamport Stadium in the city of Toronto, Ontario. The club found success early on since its inception as the Toronto Supra in the Canadian National Soccer League, making the postseason in 1996, and the championship finals in 1997. Brantford Galaxy Soccer Club was a semi-professional Canadian soccer club based in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, with their home venue located in Hamilton, Ontario at the Heritage Field Turf. The club competes in the Canadian Soccer League, a league not sanctioned by a FIFA-recognized body. The Galaxy were formed in 2010 as an expansion franchise. Hamilton City 1 Soccer Club was a Canadian soccer team founded in 2016 that played in the Canadian Soccer League, and played their home games at Cardinal Newman Secondary School multi-sport athletic field in the community of Stoney Creek, Hamilton. Molham "Mo" Babouli ( ar, مُلهَم بَابُولِيّ; born January 2, 1993) is a professional footballer who plays for York United of the Canadian Premier League. Born in the United Arab Emirates, he represented Canada at youth level and currently represents the Syria national team. Club career Toronto FC Babouli spent time at Sheridan College before joining the TFC Academy in 2014. Mykhailo Hurka (born November 21, 1975) is a Ukrainian former footballer and manager. Playing career Hurka began his career in 1993 with FC Karpaty Lviv, and midway through the season he was transferred to FC LAZ Lviv in the Ukrainian Second League. Vladimir Koval ( uk, Володимир Романович Коваль; born February 28, 1975) is a Ukrainian former footballer, and co-founder of FC Ukraine United of the Canadian Soccer League. As a player Koval initially began his professional career in the Ukraine, where he later emigrated to Canada in the 1990s. Abroad he played in the Canadian National Soccer League (CNSL) notably with Toronto Italia, and Toronto Croatia. He continued playing in the CNSL's successor league the Canadian Professional Soccer League until 2001 with Toronto Croatia. SC Waterloo Region is a professional Canadian soccer team that plays in the Canadian Soccer League, a non-FIFA-sanctioned league. The club was formed in 2011 under the name KW United FC and competed in the Second Division of the CSL.
