2019 CFL–LFA Draft
The 2019 CFL–LFA Draft took place on January 14, 2019. 27 players were chosen from an invited pool of 51 Mexican players: 34 from the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA) (a professional American football league) and 17 seniors from Mexican university teams. Background In October 2018, Canadian Football League commissioner Randy Ambrosie outlined a plan to grow the CFL's presence, which he dubbed CFL 2.0, including growth internationally. In November 2018, the LFA signed a non-binding Letter of Intent with the CFL to share resources and to allow for at least one CFL game to be played in Mexico, as wells as lay the ground work for special Mexican-specific editions of the CFL Combine and CFL Draft. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. Borregos Salvajes Toluca
The Borregos Salvajes Toluca (English: ''Toluca Wild Rams''), or simply Borregos Toluca, team represented the Toluca campus of the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) in college football from 1995 to 2021. Enrique Yenny
Enrique Gerardo Yenny Romero (born 2 July 1994) is a Mexican professional gridiron football kicker for the Reyes de Jalisco of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA). He played college football with ITESM Toluca, winning a national championship in 2017. Yenny was drafted by the Osos de Toluca in the first round of the 2019 LFA draft, earning All-Star honors as a rookie. He was also drafted by the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the third overall pick of the 2019 CFL–LFA Draft, spending one season on the team's practice roster before returning to the LFA as a member of the Pioneros de Querétaro. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster. José Carlos Maltos Díaz is a Mexican professional gridiron football placekicker for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The Redblacks selected him second overall in the 2019 CFL–LFA Draft. He was originally signed by the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL) in 2013, but was released following training camp. He played college football for UANL. The Mayas, also called Mayas LFA or Mayas Puebla, were an American football team based in Mexico City (CDMX), Mexico. The Calgary Stampeders are a professional Canadian football team based in Calgary, Alberta. The Stampeders compete in the West Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
