2019 CEBL Season
The 2019 CEBL season was the inaugural season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. It included six teams: Saskatchewan, Fraser Valley, Edmonton, Hamilton, Niagara, and Guelph. The regular season ran from May 9, 2019 to August 15, 2019, and the Championship Weekend took place on August 24 and 25, 2019, hosted in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. On August 25, the Saskatchewan Rattlers won the CEBL's first ever Championship after beating the Hamilton Honey Badgers. Canadian Elite Basketball League
The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) is a men's professional minor league basketball organization. The CEBL was founded in 2017 and began play in 2019 with six teams competing all owned and operated by ownership group Canadian Basketball Ventures. The league currently consists of ten teams from six different provinces, with four being from Ontario, two from Alberta and one each from the provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Quebec, making the CEBL the largest professional sports league based entirely in Canada. CEBL teams play twenty regular-season games from May to August. The season culminates in the six-team playoffs which include a final four Championship Weekend where the league's champion is crowned. Alex "Superman" Johnson (born January 18, 1988) is a Canadian professional basketball player who is currently a member of the London Lightning of the National Basketball League of Canada He played college basketball at Cal State Bakersfield and then NC State. Johnson attended high school at Vaughan Road Academy in Toronto, Ontario. As a professional, he was named an NBL Canada All-Star with the Mississauga Power. Xavier Rathan-Mayes (born April 29, 1994) is a Canadian professional basketball player for Melbourne United of the National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball for the Florida State Seminoles. Ryan Christian Anderson (born December 19, 1987) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Niagara River Lions of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). He was a four-year standout player for Nebraska, where he earned a degree in sociology with a minor in music technology.
