2019 CAF Confederation Cup Final
The 2019 CAF Confederation Cup Final was the final of the 2018–19 CAF Confederation Cup, the 28th edition of Africa's secondary club association football, football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the 16th edition under the current CAF Confederation Cup title. The final was contested in two-legged home-and-away format between RS Berkane from Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Morocco and Zamalek SC, Zamalek from Egyptian Football Association, Egypt. The first leg was hosted by RS Berkane at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Berkane on 19 May 2019, while the second leg was hosted by Zamalek at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria on 26 May 2019. The final finished 1–1 on aggregate, with Zamalek winning 5–3 on Penalty shoot-out (association football), penalties for their first CAF Confederation Cup title. The 2018–19 CAF Confederation Cup (officially the 2018–19 Total CAF Confederation Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 16th edition of Africa's secondary club football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), under the current CAF Confederation Cup title after the merger of CAF Cup and African Cup Winners' Cup. This season follows a transitional calendar which allows the CAF club competitions to switch from a February-to-November schedule to an August–to-May schedule, as per the decision of the CAF Executive Committee on 20 July 2017. It started in December 2018, right after the 2018 season has finished, and concluded in May 2019, before the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (which has been switched from January/February to June/July). The 2018–19 CAF Confederation Cup group stage were played from 3 February to 17 March 2019. A total of 16 teams competed in the group stage to decide the eight places in the knockout stage of the 2018–19 CAF Confederation Cup. Draw The draw for the group stage was held on 21 January 2019, 12:00 CAT (UTC+2), at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. The 2018–19 CAF Confederation Cup qualifying rounds were played from 27 November 2018 to 20 January 2019. A total of 70 teams competed in the qualifying rounds to decide the 16 places in the group stage of the 2018–19 CAF Confederation Cup. Draw The draw for the preliminary round and first round was held on 3 November 2018 in Rabat, Morocco, and was officially announced by the CAF on 9 November due to a special situation with the transitional calendar. The entry round of the 55 teams entered into the draw was determined by their performances in the CAF competitions for the previous five seasons (CAF 5-year ranking points shown in parentheses).
