2019 Big Ten Conference Football Season
The 2019 Big Ten conference football season was the 124th season of college football play for the Big Ten Conference and was part of the 2019 NCAA Division I FBS football season. This was the Big Ten's sixth season with 14 teams. The defending league champion was Ohio State. The 2019 season consisted of a nine-game conference schedule for the fourth year in a row. The Big Ten had two new coaches for the 2019 season. Ohio State promoted offensive coordinator Ryan Day to head coach, replacing Urban Meyer who retired at the end of the 2018 season. Maryland also had a new coach for 2019, hiring Mike Locksley to replace D.J. Durkin, who was fired in 2018 ultimately due to the events that led to the death of player Jordan McNair. The College Football Playoff (CFP) is an annual postseason knockout invitational tournament to determine a national champion for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest level of college football competition in the United States. Four teams play in two semifinal games, and the winner of each semifinal advances to the College Football Playoff National Championship game. The inaugural tournament was held at the end of the 2014 NCAA Division I FBS football season and was won by Ohio State, who defeated Oregon in the championship game with their third-string quarterback. Greg Schiano
Gregory Edward Schiano (born June 1, 1966) is an American football coach. He is the head football coach at Rutgers University, a position he held from 2001 to 2011 and resumed before the 2020 season. Schiano served as the head coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL) from 2012 to 2013. Early life and education Schiano was born and grew up in Wyckoff, New Jersey, and attended Ramapo High School. Nunzio Campanile
Nunzio Campanile is an American football coach. He is currently the quarterbacks coach at Syracuse University. Campanile served as the interim head coach at Rutgers University for the final eight games of the 2019 season. He was elevated to that position from that of tight ends coach after the firing of head coach Chris Ash and offensive coordinator John McNulty. Jordan Martin McNair (March 3, 1999 – June 13, 2018) was an American football player from Randallstown, Maryland, who played on the American football positions#Offensive (interior) line, offensive line. Mike Locksley
Michael Anthony Locksley (born December 25, 1969) is an American football coach. Locksley is currently the head coach at the Maryland Terrapins football, University of Maryland. After serving as an assistant coach for several college football squads, he became the head coach of the New Mexico Lobos football, University of New Mexico in 2009, coming back to Maryland as an offensive coordinator after his dismissal from UNM in 2011. In 2015, Locksley was named the interim head coach at Maryland after Randy Edsall was relieved of his duties.
