2019 Belarusian Premier League
The 2019 Belarusian Premier League was the 29th season of top-tier football in Belarus. BATE Borisov were the defending champions, having won their 13th consecutive league title and 15th overall last year. Dynamo Brest won the Belarusian Premier League title for the first time, ending the BATE Borisov streak. Teams The bottom two teams from the 2018 season (Smolevichi and Dnepr Mogilev) were relegated to the 2019 Belarusian First League. They were replaced by Slavia Mozyr and Energetik-BGU, champions and runners-up of the 2018 Belarusian First League respectively. In spring 2019, Luch Minsk merged with Dnepr Mogilev. The united club was named Dnyapro Mogilev. It inherited Luch's Premier League spot and licence, their sponsorships and most of the squad, while keeping only a few of Dnepr players and relocating to Mogilev. Belarusian Premier League
The Belarusian Premier League or the Vyšejšaja Liha or the Vysheyshaya Liga ( be, Вышэйшая ліга, russian: Высшая лига, "Top League") is the top division of professional football in Belarus, and is organized by the Belarusian Football Federation. The number of teams in the competition has varied over the years from as high as 17 (1992–93 season) to as low as 11 (2012). As of 2016, the league included 16 teams. Each team plays every other team twice during the course of the season. At the end of the season, the two teams with the fewest points are automatically relegated to the Belarusian First League, while the third worst team plays a promotion-relegation playoff against the third best team from the second tier. The top two teams from the Belarusian First League automatically win promotion to the Premier League. 2018 Belarusian First League
2018 Belarusian First League is the 28th season of 2nd level football in Belarus. It started in April and finished in November 2018. Team changes from 2017 season Two best teams of 2017 Belarusian First League ( Luch Minsk and Smolevichi-STI) were promoted to Belarusian Premier League. They were replaced by two lowest placed teams of 2017 Belarusian Premier League table ( Slavia Mozyr and Naftan Novopolotsk). Two lowest placed teams of the last season (Osipovichi and Neman-Agro Stolbtsy) relegated to the Second League. They were replaced by two best teams of 2017 Second League ( UAS Zhitkovichi and Chist). In March 2018, Torpedo Minsk were granted additional promotion to Belarusian Premier League to replace Krumkachy Minsk (who failed to obtain a Premier League and were demoted to the Second League). FC Smolevichi ( be, ФК Смалявічы, russian: ФК Смолевичи), is a Belarusian football club based in Smolevichi, Minsk Oblast. History The team was founded in 2009 as Vigvam Smolevichi. The same year, they debuted in the Minsk Oblast championship. In 2010, they joined the Belarusian Second League. They were renamed to Smolevichi in 2011 and to Smolevichi-STI in 2012. FC Minsk ( be, ФК Мінск) is a professional football club based in Minsk, Belarus. They play in the Belarusian Premier League, the highest tier of Belarusian football. Their colours are red and navy blue. History The club was established in 2006 and was based on the Belarusian First League club '' Smena Minsk''. FC Minsk took over Smena's license and was able to start immediately operating in the Belarusian First League without having to first play in the Second League, the third tier in Belarus.
