2019 Barcelona FIA Formula 3 Round
The 2019 Barcelona FIA Formula 3 round was a motor racing event held on 11 and 12 May 2019 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain. It was the first round of the 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship, and ran in support of the 2019 Spanish Grand Prix. Summary Background Following the 2018 GP3 Series, the series became the FIA Formula 3 Championship after merging with the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. The round saw the début of the new Dallara F3 2019 chassis. The new chassis uses the same Mecachrome 3.4 litre (207 cu in) naturally-aspirated V6 engine that powered its predecessor, the GP3/16, but the power output is slightly reduced. Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya () is a motorsport race track in Montmeló, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. With long straights and a variety of corners, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is seen as an all-rounder circuit. The track has stands with a capacity of 140,700. FIA Formula 3 Championship
The FIA Formula 3 Championship is a third-tier international single-seater racing championship and organised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The championship launched in 2019 as a feeder series for the FIA Formula 1 World Championship and FIA Formula 2 Championships. It was the result of a merger between two third-tier single-seater racing championships, the GP3 Series and the FIA Formula 3 European Championship as it was announced on 10 March 2018. Campos Racing is a Spanish motor racing team, founded by former Formula One driver Adrián Campos. The team has been successful in Formula Three and the GP2 Series. History After retiring from racing, Campos formed his own team at the end of 1997, under the name Campos Motorsport. Halo (safety Device)
The halo is a driver crash-protection system used in open-wheel racing series, which consists of a curved bar placed to protect the driver's head. The first tests of the halo were carried out in 2016 and in July 2017. Since the 2018 season the FIA has made the halo mandatory on every vehicle in Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula Regional, Formula E and also Formula 4 as a new safety measure. Some other open-wheel racing series also utilise the halo, such as IndyCar Series, Indy Lights, Super Formula, Super Formula Lights, Euroformula Open and Australian S5000.
