2019 ANZ Premiership Season
The 2019 ANZ Premiership season was the third season of Netball New Zealand's ANZ Premiership. With a team coached by Yvette McCausland-Durie, captained by Katrina Grant and featuring Karin Burger, Aliyah Dunn, Ameliaranne Ekenasio and Sulu Fitzpatrick, Central Pulse finished the regular season as minor premiers. In the grand final, Pulse defeated Northern Stars 52–48, winning their first premiership. ANZ Premiership
The ANZ Premiership is the top level netball league featuring teams from New Zealand. In 2017 it replaced the ANZ Championship, which also included teams from Australia, as the top level netball league in New Zealand. It is organised by Netball New Zealand. Its main sponsor is ANZ. In 2017, Southern Steel were the inaugural ANZ Premiership winners. Central Pulse are the league's most successful team, having won three premierships. Mainland Tactix
Mainland Tactix are a netball in New Zealand, New Zealand netball team based in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand, Canterbury. Between 1998 and 2007, as Canterbury Flames, they played in the National Bank Cup, Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Between 2008 ANZ Championship season, 2008 and 2016 ANZ Championship season, 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Between 2008 and 2012 ANZ Championship season, 2012 they were known as Canterbury Tactix. However, after Netball Mainland was established in October 2012, the team subsequently adopted their current name. Netball Mainland is the governing body that represents the South Island regions of Canterbury, New Zealand, Canterbury, West Coast, New Zealand, West Coast, Nelson Region, Nelson and Marlborough Region, Marlborough. London Pulse
London Pulse is an English netball team based at the Copper Box Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, London. Since 2019 their senior team has played in the Netball Superleague. History National Performance League London Pulse was originally founded in 2016. Former England netball international, Natalie Seaton founded the franchise and subsequently became the CEO. London Pulse initially entered under-17 and under-19 teams in England Netball's National Performance League. They also launched a campaign to become a Netball Superleague franchise. In 2018 London Pulse won the National Performance League under-19 title after they beat defending champions, Manchester Thunder, 53–43 in the final. Ama Agbeze
Ama Agbeze (born 12 November 1982) is an England netball international. She was captain when England won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. In 2019 she received an for her services to netball. She was also a member of the England team that won the bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. As of 2020, Agbeze has played for at least sixteen different club teams in England, Australia and New Zealand. Early life, family and education Agbeze is originally from Nigeria, she was born by Nigerian parents in Birmingham. She has two older sisters and a younger brother. She was educated at Kings Norton Girls' School and Monkton Combe School. Between 2004 and 2007 she attended Loughborough University where she gained an MSc in Finance and Management. Abigail Latu-Meafou
Abigail Latu-Meafou (born 5 July 1997) is a New Zealand-born Australian netball player in the ANZ Premiership, playing for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic. Latu-Meafou was born in Auckland, New Zealand though grew up playing netball in Ipswich, Australia. She made her debut in the Super Netball league in 2017 for the Queensland Firebirds as an injury-replacement player before being picked up on the starting list by the Adelaide Thunderbirds ahead of the 2018 season. Waikato Bay Of Plenty Magic
Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic are a New Zealand netball team based in Hamilton. Between 1999 and 2007, they played in the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Since 2017, Magic have represented Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty in the ANZ Premiership. Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty is the governing body that represents the North Island regions of Waikato and Bay of Plenty. During the National Bank Cup era, Magic were premiers in 2005 and 2006. During the ANZ Championship era, Magic were the most successful New Zealand team. Lenize Potgieter
Lenize Potgieter (born 2 May 1994) is a South African professional netball player who currently plays for Manchester Thunder and the South Africa national netball team, South African national team. Early life Potgieter was born in Polokwane, Limpopo before moving to Pretoria to pursue her high school career at Hoërskool Menlopark and further her studies and netball career. She has played netball for the past seventeen years. Career Lenize has represented her province of Limpopo at respective provincial netball tournaments. She played for the Gauteng Jaguars in the Brutal Fruit Netball Cup for three years as well as represented her university in the local varsity championship. Storm Purvis
Storm Purvis (born 20 April 1993) is a New Zealand netball player who plays for the Silver Ferns internationally, and for the Northern Stars in the ANZ Premiership. She plays in the GD and GK positions. Purvis started her netball career playing for Auckland Waitakere, and was a Northern Mystics training partner in 2011 before moving to Dunedin and picking up a contract with the Steel in 2012. She was selected into the NZ U21 team in 2010, and was named captain in 2012. During the series she was played in the unfamiliar position of WD at times. Adelaide Thunderbirds
Adelaide Thunderbirds are an Australian netball team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Since 2017 they have played in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship and between 1997 and 2007, they played in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. Thunderbirds have won four premierships. Leana De Bruin
Leana de Bruin (née du Plooy) (born 9 July 1977) is a South African and New Zealand international netball player. De Bruin played 34 tests for South Africa before moving to New Zealand in 2000. She made her on-court debut for the Silver Ferns in 2003, and has gone on to represent New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games and Netball World Championships, playing in the goal defence and goal keeper positions. In 2009, she pulled out of the team due to pregnancy, before returning the following year. De Bruin played for the Southern Sting, Capital Shakers, Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and the Northern Force in the National Bank Cup. Erena Mikaere (born 9 July 1988) is a former New Zealand netball international. Mikaere was a member of three premiership winning teams. She was a prominent member of the Sunshine Coast Lightning teams that won the 2017 and 2018 Suncorp Super Netball titles.
