2019 AFL Finals Series
The 2019 Australian Football League finals series was the 123rd annual edition of the VFL/AFL final series, the Australian rules football tournament staged to determine the winner of the 2019 AFL Premiership season. The series ran over four weekends in September 2019, culminating with the 2019 AFL Grand Final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 28 September 2019. The top eight teams from the 2019 AFL Premiership season qualify for the finals series. AFL finals series have been played under the current format since 2000. The 2019 AFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Richmond Football Club and Greater Western Sydney Giants at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 28 September 2019. It was the 124th annual grand final of the Australian Football League (formerly Victorian Football League), staged to determine the premiers for the 2019 AFL season. Matt Stevic
Matt Stevic (born 12 November 1979) is an Australian rules football field umpire in the Australian Football League (AFL). He has umpired 449 career games in the AFL, which has him sitting currently at number 4 on the All-time Games umpired list. The 449 games includes ten grand finals. Stevic was born in Leongatha, Victoria. He made his debut umpiring his first match in the AFL in Round 1, 2004, between the Western Bulldogs and the West Coast Eagles at the Telstra Dome, and he has since umpired internationally. He used to teach physical education, business management and geography at secondary schools, including Melbourne Grammar, Scotch College and Xavier College. Leigh Fisher
Leigh Fisher (born 19 April 1984) is an Australian rules football umpire and former player in the Australian Football League (AFL). Playing career Fisher was recruited as the number 46 draft pick in the 2002 AFL Draft from Sandringham. He made his debut for St Kilda in 2003 against the West Coast Eagles in Round 18. Fisher went on to become a regular fixture in the Saints' best 22 playing as a small defender in 2006 and 2007. In 2008, Fisher played in St Kilda's 2008 NAB Cup winning side – the club's third preseason win. However, he fell out of favour in the 2008 season. His last game for the Saints was in Round 11, 2008 against the Western Bulldogs. He did not play a game in 2009 and on 13 November 2009 Fisher was delisted by St Kilda. AFL Grand Final
The AFL Grand Final is an Australian rules football match to determine the premiers for the Australian Football League (AFL) season. From its inception until 1989, it was known as the VFL Grand Final, as the league at that time was the Victorian Football League. Played at the end of the finals series, the game has been held annually since 1898, except in 1924. It is traditionally staged on the afternoon of the last Saturday in September, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
